The Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders are fierce and very familiar rivals. They are both fighting for a playoff spot in the AFC West. Check our free NFL pick inside.

Momentum
The Chiefs have all the momentum in this matchup. Kansas City started 1-5 but has then won five games in a row to move to 6-5 and put its season back on course. The Chiefs have won multiple road games in that streak, and what’s more impressive is that they’ve won road games in the division, winning in Denver and then in San Diego. Going West on a road trip does not seem to bother this team at all. If anything, it focuses the Chiefs and enables them to play even better than in other situations. The team doesn’t seem to like colder weather and enjoys playing in very comfortable conditions. Quarterback Alex Smith has been a steadier and more consistent quarterback of late, and the defense is making the plays it needs to make late in games. What’s especially impressive about what you’re seeing from Kansas City is that this is happening without running back Jamaal Charles, who is injured.

The Raiders had lost a few games, but they won this past weekend in Tennessee against the Titans in a close one. The team did not play all that well, but there’s no such thing as a bad road win in the NFL. You take what you can get. The Raiders are not quite where they want to be, but they are in so much better shape than they were a few years ago, when there was no hope on the horizon.

Line Moves
This NFL odds started with Kansas City as a three-point favorite and the line has remained in place. Bettors respect the Chiefs’ work on the road, but they also know the Raiders are dangerous in general, and they also wonder if the Chiefs are due for a loss after such a long winning streak. There are two different schools of thought on this game, and they’re divided so far.

Notable Injuries
The Chiefs have running back Jamaal Charles listed on injured reserve. So is defensive back Philip Gaines. So are offensive lineman Paul Fanaika, tight end Richard Gordon, and tight end James O’Shaughnessy. Running back De’Anthony Thomas is questionable with a concussion. Running back Charcandrick West is questionable with a hamstring injury. Linebacker Dee Ford is questionable with a back injury. Defensive lineman Allen Bailey is questionable with a calf injury. Offensive lineman Ben Grubbs is questionable with a neck injury. Offensive lineman Eric Fisher is questionable with a neck injury. Offensive lineman Jeff Allen is probable with an ankle injury. Linebacker Justin Houston is questionable with a knee injury. Offensive lineman Mitch Morse is questionable with a concussion.

For the Raiders, running back Taiwan Jones is questionable with a knee injury. Center Rodney Hudson is questionable with an ankle injury. Linebacker Neiron Ball is out indefinitely with a knee injury. Linebacker Aldon Smith has been suspended. Tackle Menelik Watson is on injured reserve. So is defensive end Justin Tuck.

Handicapping The Game
The fact that the Chiefs have won two AFC West road games is what makes it easier to pick them here. Kansas City’s defense should shut down Oakland’s offense. Take the Chiefs with your NFL picks.
