We are down to the final two weeks of the CFL regular season and while four of the six spots for this year’s Grey Cup Playoffs have been claimed, the East title remains up for grabs along with the sixth and final berth. Both of those questions could be answered in the outcome of a couple of key betting matchups in Week 19.

I have dug deep into the stats and the betting trends for all of this week’s CFL games to come up with a pair of winners that come together perfectly to form my Week 19 two-team parlay. The following is a look at my two picks based on the CFL betting odds for the games by 5Dimes.

Game 1
British Columbia Lions vs. Edmonton Eskimos
Pointspread: Edmonton -5
Total: 49

Betting Overview
BC clinched a playoff spot in the West with last week’s 28-23 victory against Winnipeg as a 4.5-point road favorite. The Lions have covered against the spread in their last three outings and the total has stayed UNDER in three of their last four games. Coming into this potential preview of a first round pairing in the postseason, BC’s defense is ranked first in the CFL in points allowed (18.4) and that average has dropped to 16.1 points over its last seven games

The Eskimos had a bye last week following their 24-19 win over Saskatchewan as 4.5-point road favorites in Week 17. They are now 4-2 SU with a profitable 6-0 run ATS in their last six games. The total has stayed UNDER in four of their last five outings. This is another team with a very stingy defense. Edmonton has allowed an average of 19.6 points a game, which is tied with Calgary as the second-best total in the CFL.

Betting Trends
BC is 5-2 both SU and ATS in its last seven road games and the total has stayed UNDER in four of their last five games on the road.

Edmonton has won four of its last five home games SU and it is also 4-1 ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in six of their last nine home games.

The Lions have won five of the last six meetings SU and they are 7-2 SU (6-3 ATS) in their last nine road games against Edmonton. The total has stayed UNDER in five of the last six games between these two division foes that were played in Edmonton.

Betting Prediction
The total has stayed UNDER in 11 of Edmonton’s 16 games this season and it has also stayed UNDER in 12 of BC’s 16 games on the year. Stick with recent betting trends in this one as the total stays UNDER 5Dimes betting line in this matchup.

Game 2
Toronto Argonauts vs. Montreal Alouettes
Pointspread: Montreal -2.5
Total: 50.5

Betting Overview
The Argonauts have won four of their last five games SU, but the lone defeat was a 20-12 loss to Montreal in Week 17 as five-point home favorites in one of its lowest scoring outputs this year. Toronto continues to boast one of the most prolific offensive attacks in the league behind quarterback Ricky Ray. This unit is averaging 25.8 points a game and Ray leads the CFL in both total passing yards (4,386) and touchdown throws (28).

Montreal was given up for dead in the CFL this season with a 1-7 SU start, but last week’s 23-17 win over Ottawa in a game that ended as a PUSH, was their fifth win in a row in its impressive second-half push to the postseason. It is 4-0-1 ATS during this stretch behind quarterback Jonathan Crompton. The offense has averaged 25.8 points a game, but the defense has also done its part the last five games by holding teams to an average of just 12 points a game.

Betting Trends
The Argonauts are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, but just 2-6 SU in their last eight games on the road. The total has gone OVER in four of their last six games.

The Alouettes are 4-1 both SU and ATS in their last five games at home and the total has stayed UNDER in four of their last five outings overall.

Montreal has won 17 of the last 24 meetings SU and it is 16-8 ATS during this same stretch of games. The total has stayed UNDER in six of the last seven meetings in Montreal.

Betting Prediction
Both of these teams know how to put points on the board given their current form, but when they face one another things usually turn into a low-scoring slugfest. With so much on the line for both teams, I am expecting the same type of game this time around that also stays UNDER 5Dimes’ current CFL betting odds on the total line. So take that with your Week 19 CFL picks.
