Upsets and OVER’s on the total line were the story in the CFL last week as the regular season continues to press on towards the Grey Cup Playoffs. Every win or loss from here on it is poised to have a major impact on the final six-team field.

Moving on to Week 16 of the regular season, I have already spotted two winners for this week’s CFL two-team parlay after digging deep into all the matchups. The following is my two-team play based on CFL odds for the games by 5Dimes.

Game 1
Hamilton Tiger-Cats vs. Toronto Argonauts
Pointspread: Toronto -3.5
Total: 52

Betting Overview
Hamilton is coming off a big 19-17 win over British Columbia as a four-point home favorite, but it will have to play this game on the road where it is just 1-5 straight-up (3-3 against the spread) this season. Tiger-Cats’ quarterback Zach Collaros threw for 367 yards against BC last week, but all of the scoring came from the foot of kicker Justin Medlock. He went a perfect five-for-five on field goal attempts.

The Argonauts have failed to cover in three of their last four outings at the Rogers Centre, but this team is still in excellent position to make a run at winning another East Division title with back-to-back SU wins over BC and Edmonton in its last two games. Ricky Ray continues to pace the offense with 3,430 passing yards and a league-high 24 touchdowns as a huge part of an Argonauts’ team that is putting-up an average of 26.2 points per game.

Betting Trends
The Lions are 2-7 ATS in their last nine games and the total has stayed UNDER in six of their last seven outings.

The Argonauts have covered in just three of their last nine home games and the total has gone OVER in 13 of their last 19 games played at home.

Hamilton has a 4-1 SU record in the last five meetings, but it has failed to cover in four of its last six games on the road against the Argonauts. The total has gone OVER in four of the last five meetings in Toronto.

Betting Prediction
Both teams need a win in this one to help their division title chances, but I cannot see Hamilton keeping pace on the scoreboard against Ricky Ray and Co. For your CFL picks my advice is to take Toronto to close the gap in the East with the SU win at home that covers 5Dimes' current 3.5-point spread.

Game 2
Ottawa RedBlacks vs. British Columbia Lions
Pointspread: BC -9
Total: 44

Game Overview
The RedBlacks’ offense exploded for 42 points last week in a stunning 22-point victory against Winnipeg as 3.5-point home favorites. This followed a stretch of six games where they failed to score more than 10 points in five of those contests. For the most part, Ottawa has lacked any kind of consistency on offense that is pretty obvious from a scoring average of just 17.1 points in 13 games this year.

The Lions three-game losing streak has them fading fast in the West Division race. During this slide the offense has only managed to score an average of just 15.7 PPG. Things got so bad with this unit in last week’s loss to Hamilton that it tallied a grand total of 11 rushing yards on six carries.

Betting Trends
Ottawa has lost its last five road games SU and the total has stayed UNDER in five of its last seven games overall.

BC is 2-4 ATS in its last six games and the total has stayed UNDER in six of its last seven games and in 11 of 14 games on the year.

The first meeting this season generated a total of just 12 points with the Lions coming away with a 7-5 victory as a nine-point road favorite. The total for that game was set at 47 ½ points. The total has stayed UNDER in six of BC’s last eight home games.

Betting Prediction
It is highly doubtful that Ottawa can come anywhere close to matching last week’s point total on the road against BC and I cannot even see the RedBlacks getting close to their season average. The Lions will continue to struggle scoring points as well as the total in this game stays UNDER the 44-point betting line at 5Dimes.
