It's crunch time in the race for a spot in the 2015 Grey Cup Playoffs as losses this time a year can be extremely costly.Check our free picks inside.

The following is a closer look at my top two picks based on betting odds from 5Dimes

Edmonton Eskimos vs. Calgary Stampeders
This is easily the biggest matchup in Week 16 with Edmonton sitting just one game off the pace in the West at 10-4 straight-up (8-6 against the spread). The Eskimos needed some late-game heroics to get past Winnipeg last week in a tight 24-23 victory as 6.5-point road favorites. They have now failed to cover in three of their last five games. Edmonton has been riding the strength of its defense, which is ranked first in the CFL this season in average points allowed (18.6).

Calgary still has the best SU record in the league at 11-3, but it has failed to cover in nine games this season. The Stampeders did hammer-out a 23-20 victory against Hamilton last week as 1.5-point road favorites. This was the fourth time in their last five games where they failed to eclipse their season scoring average of 26.4 points a game. Defensively, they have given-up an average of 20.7 points a game.

Betting Trends
The Eskimos are 16-8 ATS in their last 14 games, but that record falls to just 3-6 ATS in their last nine games on the road. The total has stayed UNDER in five of their last seven road games.

The Stampeders are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games and just 2-6 ATS in their last eight games played at home. The total has stayed UNDER in six of those eight home games.

Head-to-head in this division rivalry, Calgary has won 12 of the last 13 meetings SU and it has covered ATS in four of its last five home games against Edmonton. The total has stayed UNDER in six of the last eight meetings.

Betting Prediction
The home team has won the first two meetings this season both SU and ATS and while I am not sure if Calgary will cover this time around, I feel confident it will win this game SU. That being said, I am actually going with the UNDER 47 in this game as my top sports pick.

CFL Pick: Under 47  at 5Dimes

Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs. British Columbia Lions
Winnipeg comes into the undercard of this week’s West Division showdowns with just one SU win in its last eight games, but after hanging tough against Edmonton last week it has been able to cover ATS in three of its last four games. The total has gone OVER in four of its last five outings. Blue Bombers’ quarterback Matt Nichols threw for 320 yards and one touchdown against the Eskimos, but he only connected on 22 of his 39 attempts.

The Lions have also stumbled down the stretch with just two SU wins in their last seven games, but last week’s key 46-20 victory against Saskatchewan not only snapped a SU three-game skid, it raised their record to 4-1 ATS in their last five games. The total has also gone OVER in their last three contests. Jonathan Jennings threw for 364 yards and four touchdowns in that game and wide receiver Emmanuel Arceneaux also came up big with four catches for 137 yards and two of those scores.

Betting Trends
The Blue Bombers are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and the total has gone OVER in their last three games.

The Lions are just 2-5 ATS this season in seven games as favorites and the total has gone OVER in five of their last seven games at home.

BC has won seven of the last nine matchups SU and it is 4-1 SU in its last five home games against Winnipeg. The total has stayed UNDER in 17 of the last 22 games between these two teams.

Betting Prediction
Both of these teams are in desperate need of a win to help bolster their playoff chances and while BC should get the SU win at home it could have a hard time covering the 7.5 points. What I am sure about is both teams putting up enough points in this matchup to take this total OVER the current 50.5-point betting line.

CFL Pick: Over 50.5 at TheGreek
