The stats, facts & betting trends for this week’s schedule and there are a pair of football picks that come together perfectly to get me back to my winning ways.

Last week, I went with  the OVER in the first game of Ottawa’s home-and-home series against Winnipeg and missed it by half a point. Edmonton look care of British Columbia as I fully expected, but it could not cover the nine-point spread. I am going right back to both of these teams in Week 18 with picks based on CFL odds from 5Dimes.

Ottawa RedBlacks vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Ottawa is still on course for a worst-to-first run in the East with last week’s victory against the Blue Bombers and you have to give quite a bit of the credit for the RedBlacks’ 9-6 record to veteran quarterback Henry Burris. He leads the CFL in total passing yards (4,735) this season while completing 72.2 percent of his league-high 564 passing attempts.

The Blue Bombers have now lost eight of their last 10 games straight-up, but they are still in line to lay claim to the final CFL playoff spot despite and overall SU record of 5-11. Their offense is averaging just 20.1 points a game, while their defense is allowing 28.4 points a game, so it is pretty easy to see why they have had trouble winning games.

Game Betting Trends

The RedBlacks are 6-15 ATS in their last 21 road games and the total has gone OVER in five of their last six games on the road.

The Blue Bombers are 4-2 ATS in their last six home games and the total has stayed UNDER in five of their last seven games played at home.

Last season’s series was split with the home team winning both SU and ATS. The total went OVER in both games.

Game Prediction
I am not going to bite on the total line again, but I will go with Ottawa to win again on Saturday as a football pick on the road to pull off the season sweep.

CFL Pick: Redblacks PK at 5Dimes

Edmonton Eskimos vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders
Edmonton is still in a neck-and-neck battle with Calgary for the West Division title at 12-4 and it comes into this division tilt riding a SU six-game winning streak. The Eskimos have done a fairly good job at putting points on the board all season long, but this team’s top strength is a defense that is holding teams to 18.4 points a game, which is tops in the CFL.

The Roughriders are bringing up the rear at 2-13 in what has been a lost season. Even with a number of different quarterbacks getting a shot to run the offense, they have been able to average 23.8 points a game. The problem has actually been a defense that is giving-up an average of 30.8 points a game, which is the most in the league.

Game Betting Trends

The Eskimos are 3-2 ATS in their last five road games and the total has stayed UNDER in four of those games. They have won four of those games SU.

The Roughriders are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 home games and they have dropped six of eight at home SU. The total has gone OVER in four of their last six games.

Edmonton is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 road games against Saskatchewan and the total has stayed UNDER in four of its last five games on the road against the Roughriders.

Game Prediction
Edmonton needs a win on Saturday to keeps its division title hopes alive, while the Roughriders come off a bye. Normally you would think the extra rest would help, but with just two wins on the year, the layoff will work against them in a matchup against the hottest team in the CFL. Lay the 10 points and take the Eskimos in this one.

CFL Pick: Eskimos -10 at Heritage
