Cincinnati Bengals are back on track behind two consecutive wins over New Orleans and Houston. Next up are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week 13 NFL betting. Can the Bengals make it three in a row on the road? Find out as we breakdown this matchup and server up our choice NFL picks.

Cincinnati Bengals (7-3-1 SU, 3-2 SU away)
Cincinnati Bengals are gearing up for their third straight road game in as many weeks. In week 11 NFL betting, the Bengals sent seismic shockwaves when they handed New Orleans, one of the more dominant forces at home in the league, their second straight defeat at the Superdome as the 8-point road pups (or thereabouts depending on your choice online sports betting shop). Last week, the Bengals extended their road winning form behind a 22-13 win over the Texans as the 1.5-point road pups.

Bengals reclaim top spot in the AFC North with a 7-3-1 SU record which includes a 3-2 SU record on the road. They are 6-4-1 ATS overall with an average 1.1-point margin of victory and 3-2 ATS record with a minus 4-point margin skewed by two road losses a 43-17 loss in New England and 27-0 loss in Indianapolis.

The recent upturn in fortunes has come at the expense of teams that are barely scratching the .500 mark this season. Throughout the season the Bengals have been up-and-down on form; from beating down on lesser opponents to struggling against quality teams, they've also managed to deposit some right head-scratchers a 37-37 tie with the Panthers and a 24-3 loss to the Browns. The verdict on the Bengals in NFL betting circles is that they are one of the more inconsistent teams.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-9 SU, 0-5 SU at home)
On paper, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 2-9 SU side; in other words a bad team. Their struggles this season have been nowhere more conspicuous than at home where they are 0-5 SU and ATS, with a hefty 11-point margin of defeat on average.

Bucs return home after a two-game road trip which they split 1-1 SU. They beat the Washington Redskins 27-7 in week 11 before succumbing to a 21-13 loss to the Chicago Bears. The Bucs are probably deflated by the way their season has gone. By the numbers, their offense and defense languish in the lower half of the standings 18th ranked passing offense and 29th ranked rushing offense complemented by a 23rd ranked passing defense and 21st ranked rushing defense.

That said the Bucs are contained within an NFC South division that is a right mess. All four teams boast losing records on the season, below .500. Bucs fans could yet indulge in fanciful notions, such as Bucs staging a last gasp comeback over the next five weeks to win the division and frolic into the playoffs. A quick look at their schedule, which is no picnic with three strong teams and two divisional rivals looming ahead, just underscores how wildly optimistic those notions really are. If the Bucs were to somehow mastermind the feat, colour the NFL betting world shocked. Bucs are priced as the whopping +6600 long shots to win the NFC South.

NFL Betting Verdict
Bengals are in pole position in a highly competitive AFC North division. Any let ups could come at a hefty price, divisional rivals are all in play for a playoffs spot and the divisional title is by no means securely in their grasp. Their inconsistency on the season is something that could be their undoing.

Bengals enter this clash as the 3.5-point road favourites but they can't take the two-win Bucs for granted. Both wins by the Bucs were upsets on the NFL trading floor  a win over the Steelers and Redskins. Bengals need this win just as much as the Bucs need to right the ship. On paper, the Bengals are the better team, which makes them the better NFL pick. Games are played on the field and not on paper though. The Bucs aren't exactly without a shot if the NFL odds were any indication as the mere 3.5-point home pups

This game will reveal just how good the Bengals really are and, at the same time, what fight back the Bucs have at this late stage of the season. This could be as close as the bookies are tipping it on the NFL odds board. Nevertheless, the Bengals as the 3.5-point road favourites should come through for NFL bettors. Shade the Bengals on your NFL picks.
