The Atlanta Falcons and the San Francisco 49ers are both coming off terrible performances, and they've been playing a similar level of football over the past month. Look inside for a free NFL pick.

The Falcons fell behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers thanks to another listless first half offensive performance last Sunday. Matt Ryan and his teammates have had absolutely no answers coming out of the tunnel to start any of their last three games. Atlanta has scored no more than seven points in the first half of each of its last three games. This is a team which started the season 5-0, but has come to a complete halt on offense. First-year head coach Dan Quinn is a former defensive coordinator, and that side of the line of scrimmage largely continues to do its job, but the offense needs an intervention of some sort.

Amazingly, though, San Francisco is in worse shape on offense. Colin Kaepernick has been benched by head coach Jim Tomsula. Blaine Gabbert will start this game on Sunday against the Falcons. The 49ers were able to gain just 142 yards against Seattle on Oct. 22, and then they scored only six points this past Sunday against the St. Louis Rams. The loss of Frank Gore in the offseason was one sign that this offense was about to crumble, but the loss of Harbaugh as head coach was the biggest one of all. There is no direction at the top of the organizational structure, and this needs to be fixed in order for the 49ers to get better.

Line Moves
The total opened at 44.5 and has moved up to 45. Bettors might be that sour on Kaepernick, and they think that Gabbert might be a small improvement. They might also think that Matt Ryan can get healthy against San Francisco’s defense.

Notable Injuries
For the Falcons, guard Jon Asamoah is on the injured reserve list with an undisclosed condition. Wide receiver Devin Hester is also on the IR with a toe injury. Fullback Collin Mooney is also on the IR with an arm injury. Cornerback Robert Alford is questionable with a groin injury. Defensive end Tyson Jackson is questionable with a rib injury. Cornerback Desmond Trufant is questionable with a back injury. Wide receiver Leonard Hankerson is questionable with a hamstring injury. Safety William Moore is questionable with a groin injury. Wide receiver Nick Williams is questionable with a hamstring injury.

For the 49ers, running back Kendall Hunter is on injured reserve. So is safety Antoine Bethea. So is wide receiver Dres Anderson. Safety L.J. McCray is questionable with a knee injury. Punter Bradley Pinion is questionable with a calf injury. Running back Carlos Hyde is doubtful with a foot injury. Running back Mike Davis is doubtful with a hand injury. Tight end Garrett Celek is questionable with a concussion. Running back Reggie Bush is out for the season with an ACL injury. Wide receiver Anquan Boldin is questionable with a hamstring injury.

Handicapping The Game
Atlanta has been brutal over the past four weeks, in two losses (New Orleans and Tampa Bay) and even in victories (over Tennessee and Washington). The 49ers are in the same position, with Colin Kaepernick looking utterly lost without Jim Harbaugh, the man who turned him into a good NFL quarterback. This might seem like a mismatch for the 6-2 team, but it feels more like a meeting of equals given the present state of both ballclubs.

These two offenses have been absolutely abysmal of late. The NFL odds should be around 40, not 45. This feels like an excellent time to go with the under. Blaine Gabbert is not likely to create much of any offense. If the Niners score only 13 points, don’t expect Atlanta to score 34 or more. Go under with your NFL picks.
