These three teams might need to start upping the panic meter, because even though it’s just past Week 1 of the preseason, things are already starting to fall apart. If you are high on them, it might be time to downgrade your NFL Odds expectations of them slightly.

Indianapolis Colts
The Colts are a team that’s starting to look overvalued in their NFL Odds, despite looking like a lock to make the playoffs still. However they are still one of the bigger losers of Week 1 of the preseason, because already their offensive line is thinning. They already lost starter, Donald Thomas for the season, and in their Week 1 game against the Jets, Khaled Holmes hurt his ankle. Holmes looks like he might miss the rest of the preseason, but it seems Indy is optimistic he will be ready to play by Week 1 of the regular season. It doesn’t get better from their I’m afraid. Rookie 7th round pick, Ulrick John broke his ankle this past week, and Xavier Nixon is having surgery. Both guys were likely depth options for the Colts, but with all of the injuries, things might get harder before they get easier for the Colts.

San Francisco 49ers
I was pretty high on the 49ers this season, but early in the preseason I am switching my tune. They are going to be great for offensive fantasy sports value, but betting value may be another story, because their defense may not be as good as most people, including myself, have been projecting. Aldon Smith is still waiting to see how long of a suspension he will receive after having his meeting this past week. Smith is by far the Niners best pass rusher, and it would be a big blow if he has to miss more than four games or so. The Niners will of course also be without Glenn Dorsey who tore his biceps this past week, and Navarro Bowman is still on the mend from tearing his ACL in the NFC Title game. He won’t be back until midseason. The Niners also lost a few other defensive linemen this weekend due to injury, and it’s quickly looking like the 49ers may not be in as much danger as I originally thought. Although they are still dangerous, I am downgrading them on my power rankings until further notice.

New York Jets
The Jets played the Colts and won the game this past week, but covering the spread was one of their only triumphs. The oft injured, Chris Ivory is banged up again after their game against the Colts. Ivory managed 7 carries for only 17 yards before leaving the game. It was reported on Sunday that he is dealing with a rib cartilage injury as well. Even though Chris Johnson didn’t look great either, but he did have a touchdown. However another starter got hurt for the Jets this past week, as starter Dee Milliner hurt his ankle over the weekend at practice. If that wasn’t enough, rookie Dexter McDougle tore his ACL and will miss the season. Combine that with no quarterback on the Jets roster looking good last week, and you have the panic meter quickly rising in New York.
