We’ll be examining Friday’s NFL preseason contest between Denver and Seattle. How will Gary Kubiak do in his first preseason game as head coach of the Denver Broncos? Can Seattle continue their recent home field domination in preseason games? Read our intriguing betting preview article in order to get those answers and more.
Rematch of 2014 Super Bowl in 2015 Preseason Opener
The Broncos and Seahawks open their 2015 preseason schedule on Friday. The opening kickoff at CenturyLink Field in Seattle is slated for 10:00 PM ET. According to current NFL odds at Heritage, Seattle is a 4.5 point favorite, and the posted total is 36.5. This game will be televised nationally by the NFL Network. Denver Broncos starting quarterback Peyton Manning is reportedly being held out of tonight’s game.
Recent Head-to-Head History
These teams have met in each of the previous four preseason campaigns, and both clubs each won on two occasions. The lone matchup of the four played in Seattle was in 2013, and it resulted in a Seahawks 40-10 blowout win. Ironically, both teams culminated that season by reaching the 2014 Super Bowl, and Seattle once again routed Denver by a score of 43-8.
Gary Kubiak Back in Denver
Gary Kubiak was the former offensive coordinator in Denver, and also spent the majority of his playing career as the Broncos backup quarterback behind John Elway. Kubiak is also the former head coach of the Houston Texans from 2006 to 2013. During his time in Houston, the Texans were 9-7 straight up, 11-5 ATS, and 11-5 over the total in preseason away games. They also were 6-1 over the total as an away underdog if the number was 37.5 or less. As a matter of fact, Houston was 22-10 over the total in eight years of preseason play with Kubiak running the show.
Pete Carroll NFL Preseason Resume
Pete Carroll enters his sixth season as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. Carroll was also the New York Jets head man in 1994, and held that same title for the New England Patriots from 1997 to 1999. His overall NFL preseason record is 23-14 (.622) straight up, 25-11-1 ATS, and 27-10 (73%) over the total. It must be noted regarding the high percentage of games going over the total, he’s only 11-9 over the number with Seattle, and at his other two stops (Jets, Patriots) Carroll went an incredible 16-1 over the number. Seattle has gone a perfect 7-0 SU & ATS during their previous seven preseason home games with Carroll in charge, and won those contests by a whopping average of 20.9 points per game. This is a Seattle Seahawks franchise which is 21-8 straight up and 23-6 ATS overall during their last 29 preseason games.
Despite this being a relatively high number to lay in a preseason contest, I just can’t ignore Seattle’s recent domination they’ve displayed at home. I’ll have a very small lean toward the Seahawks for one of my NFL picks on Friday. Heritage provides me with the best combination of number and money line price pertaining to this specific wager.
