We were on our way to cashing out a lone prop pick for Sunday Night Football, but then two plays of the Steelers forgetting how to tackle and Theo Riddick scampers for a couple of big plays to screw us late. However, Monday is here and I am ready to make up for that tough loss.
By all accounts, this should be a pretty good game for defenses on Monday night between the Chiefs and Broncos. Not only because both defenses are stacked with talent, but because the last few weeks for both teams have not been great.
The Chiefs’ defense is coming off giving up 31 points on the road to the Raiders, and before that the Chiefs’ offense couldn’t get anything going against the Steelers in Week 6. On the other side, the Broncos’ offense has just been bad this season overall, but especially in the last four games where they have been outscored 80-42, and were shutout last week by the Chargers.
With the extra day to rest and repair, the defenses should be out in force in this one, because the first team to 18 points might win this thing. That sort of game script is usually tough to watch if it pans out that way tonight, but it should also help us cash this prop pick from Bovada.
In their last four games, the Broncos have averaged just 3.25 points per first quarter, and their offense is averaging the exact same amount in their own first quarter offense. On the flip side, the Chiefs have not been great at scoring in the first quarter of games at home all season, and that could continue against one of the league’s better defenses. In three home games in 2017, the Chiefs have scored a total of six first-quarter points!
With nice NFL odds of -115 for the ‘No’ on this prop, I see it as a fine value play for early in Monday Night Football. It wouldn’t surprise me to see a 0-0 game after the end of the first quarter, let alone the first six minutes and 30 seconds.Free NFL Pick: No (-115)Best Line Offered: Bovada
