I dig into a pair of CFL matchups deep this week to come-up with a couple of picks that have a great shot at paying off as a 2 team parlay in Week 10.
The following is a closer look at my two picks in Week 10 of the CFL regular season based on betting odds from 5Dimes.
Montreal Alouettes vs. Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Montreal got back on track last week after losing three games straight-up with a 23-13 victory against British Columbia as a 2.5-point road underdog. It is now 3-5 SU with a 4-3-1 record against the spread. The Alouettes are averaging just 20.6 point a game this season, but they have gotten a strong effort from a defense that is holding opposing teams to a league-low 18.5 points.
The Tiger-Cats continue to roll through the regular season at 6-2 SU with a profitable 7-1 record ATS. Last week, they pummeled Edmonton 49-20 as two-point road favorites. They have now won their last five games both SU and ATS. Offensively Hamilton is racking-up an average of 36.5 points a game, which is far and away the highest scoring average in the CFL. Quarterback Zach Collaros leads the league in total passing yards with 2,314 and he is second in touchdown throws with 17.
The Alouettes are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games played in Week 10 of the regular season and they are 1-4 ATS in their last five East Division games. The total has stayed UNDER in 17 of their last 22 road games.
The Tiger-Cats are 5-0 ATS at home this season and 5-1 ATS in their last six division games. The total has stayed UNDER in five of their last seven games against a team from the East.
Montreal is just 3-7 ATS in its last 10 road games against Hamilton and the total has stayed UNDER in five of the last seven games overall. The Tiger-Cats lost the first meeting this season 17-13 as three-point road favorites on July 16.
Montreal has been tough on defense this season, but stopping the Tiger-Cats is a whole new ball game. Hamilton is the class of the CFL this year, especially on the offensive side of the ball. This becomes painfully clear to Montreal fans this week as the Tiger-Cats roll at home with a SU win that covers the spread to successfully avenge that first loss.

Saskatchewan Roughriders vs. Ottawa RedBlacks
When you are down to your third-string quarterback it becomes very hard to win games and Saskatchewan is living proof with a 0-8 start SU and a 2-6 record ATS. It has played both Toronto and Calgary tough in its last two outings to cover the spread and the total has gone OVER both times with an average combined score of 60.5 points in these two matchups. The Roughriders are down to Brett Smith at quarterback and he tossed three scoring strikes in last week’s tight 34-31 loss to the Stampeders as 5.5-point home underdogs.
Ottawa has now lost its last two games after a promising 4-2 start both SU and ATS. It did cover as a nine-point road underdog in last week’s 30-24 loss to Toronto after getting crushed by Calgary 48-3 as nine-point underdogs on the road the week before. Veteran quarterback Henry Burris torched the Argonauts’ defense for 426 yards passing in that loss and on the year he is ranked third in the CFL in total passing yards with 2,235 while completing 69.3 percent of his throws.
The Roughriders are 1-6-1 ATS in their last eight road games and they are 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 games overall. The total has gone OVER in five of their last eight games.
The RedBlacks are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games at home and the total has gone OVER in four of their last five games following an ATS win. The total has now gone OVER in their last four games.
Saskatchewan won both meetings last season SU and the total went OVER in both games.
I am not sold on Saskatchewan ending its eight-game losing streak this Sunday on the road against Ottawa and I am not sold on the RedBlacks getting back on track with a SU win. What I really like in this matchup is the OVER 52.5 on the total line, with defense taking a backseat for both sides all game long.
