We look at the Sunday Night Football game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Pittsburgh Steelers to provide our Crusher of the Week NFL pick.

Indianapolis Colts vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (-7) 8:30 ET NBC
The resurgent Indianapolis Colts travel to Pittsburgh to face the wounded Steelers for this Sunday night 8:30 ET kick as televised by NBC.

Indianapolis Colts
When Indy QB Luck went out of the lineup in early November, it appeared that Indianapolis might be toast. Since that time, there have been consecutive victories against Denver, Atlanta, and Tampa Bay. Those were all authored by replacement QB Hasselbeck, with the guidance of newly promoted OC Chudzinski. Now the Colts enter their Sunday night fray with the Steelers on a 6-1 ATS run. That comes on the heels of a (25-12) victory at home vs Tampa Bay last week. But before you are ready to jump on the momentum bandwagon that is Indianapolis, we must note they are being outgained for the season by a count of 388-345, and losing the point of attack with a 5.2 to 5.9 YP play average. In fact, Indy has outgained only one of their 11 opponents this year. Today, they travel to Pittsburgh, where they may well be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Though the Steelers have an identical 6-5 SU record, they are in a much different frame of mind than an Indy team who has won three straight.

Pittsburgh Steelers
Last week, the Steelers lost 39-30 at Seattle despite outgaining the Seahawks 538-436. Look no further than four INTs tossed by Steelers QBs Roethlisberger and Jones, resulting in a (-4) net TO margin. We all know you have a less than 10% chance to cover an NFL game with a -3 or less net turnover margin. Early in the week, it was believed that the Steelers may be without Roethlisberger (possible concussion) for this contest, but Ben was cleared to practice on Wednesday. At the time of this writing, it now appears likely he will start this contest. With Roethlisberger in the lineup, the Steelers are one of the NFL’s best offensive teams. Pittsburgh leads the NFL with a 6.7 offensive yard per play average, while gaining 399 YPG. Angered by last week’s loss in Seattle, it will be no surprise if Roethlisberger comes out firing against the unsuspecting Indy defense. Three times this season, against San Francisco, Oakland, and Cleveland, Pittsburgh has authored a 30+ point offensive performance at home. Look for it to happen again Sunday night.

I invite you to put the NFL odds in your favor and join me for my NFL pick on the Pittsburgh Steelers as the Crusher of the Week (last week it was the Bengals 31-9) and watch the Steelers cruise to a dominant double digit victory Sunday night.
