Redskins (2-1) vs. Buccaneers (1-2)
The Buccaneers will host the Redskins at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida with the opening kickoff slated for 7:30 PM ET. According to NFL betting odds the Bucs are a 3.0 point favorite and the posted total is 39.0. These teams will meet during the 2014 NFL regular season on November 16th in Washington, so you can expect both sides to be extremely conservative in what they show on each side of the ball from a schematic standpoint.

Redskins Starters Absent in Week 4
The Washington rookie NFL head coach Jay Gruden has decided against playing his starters in the final preseason game of 2014. The emphasis and focus, will be on getting the backups some valuable playing time, and of course evaluating players who are on the fence in terms of making the final 53-game roster. This preseason hasn’t been without a bit of controversy in Washington, and no I’m not talking about all the fuss over the protest regarding the Redskins trademark/nickname. It’s involves the starting quarterback choice. Robert Griffin III has been named the starter for the regular season opener at Houston, despite the fact he’s been thoroughly outplayed by Kirk Cousins throughout training camp, and during their first 3 preseason games.

Lots of Lovie in Tampa
Lovie Smith is in his first year as the head man of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Smith had a one-year sabbatical from coaching after being fired by the Chicago Bears following the 2012 season. In his 9-seasons as the head coach of the Bears, his teams went 19-18 SU, and 17-18-2 ATS during the preseason. This preseason, his Buccaneers teams has gone 1-2 SU&ATS, and all 3 of those games have gone under the total. Lovie Smith has gone 6-12-2 ATS as a preseason game favorite during his coaching career. Similar to tonight’s opponent, the Buccaneers are expected to rest their starters, and give their backups extensive game action.

Final Analysis
There’s not a lot to go on here as you can imagine. The Tampa defense will be very good this season, but their depth on that side has some question marks heading into the regular season campaign. The Redskins seem to be very deep offensively especially at the skilled positions, and there’s very little drop off when you turn to 2nd team quarterback Kirk Cousins. I’m going to have a very small lean toward the road underdog here.
