The Chicago Bears and Atlanta Falcons collide in Week 6, marking a pivotal NFC clash between 2-3 SU teams looking to turn around their NFL betting fortunes. Appropriately, the game is set on a tight NFL betting line of 3-points. Find out which way our NFL picks lean.

Chicago Bears (2-3, 2-1 away)
The Chicago Bears have two wins though five weeks of NFL betting, both of which came on the road at the expense of the Niners and Jets in succession. Since their last road win – 27-19 over the Jets – the Bears have succumbed to back-to-back defeats. They lost 38-17 to the Green Bay Packers at home and 31-24 at Carolina last week, the latter of which the most deflating as they raced to a 21-7 lead early in the second quarter before the wheels came undone in the second half.

Bears offense is modest with a 14th ranked passing offense (246.2 yards per game) and a 22nd ranked rushing offense (102.4). Inconsistent quarterback play, turnovers and a porous defense however have been to their undoing, putting them dead last in the NFC North standings. It might be premature to write the Chicago Bears off entirely just yet, but their prospects won’t improve if they don’t deal with all those glaring issues. Mainly, they have to keep turnovers in check and improve on the defensive-side of the ball.

Atlanta Falcons (2-3, 2-0 home)
Atlanta Falcons are undefeated at home this season behind some solid wins over New Orleans (37-34 OT) and Tampa Bay (56-14). Overall, Matt Ryan has been putting up some staggering stats – he’s second behind Andrew Luck with 1,579 yards, 11 touchdowns, six interceptions and six sacks. He’s also averaging 8.02 yards per game. Meanwhile, the Falcons offense is one of the best in the league. They are 2nd in passing offense with 319.2 yards per game, 17th in rushing offense with 115.4 yards per game and averaging 30.2 points per game.

Falcons are coming off disappointing losses to the Vikings and Giants on the road, losing by a combined score of 71-48. Defensive issues have been the main concern – no pass rush to speak off really, and an overall lowly ranked defense that allows an average of 28.6 points against.

Chicago Bears +3.0 (+105) vs. Atlanta Falcons -3.0 (-125)
Chicago Bears and Atlanta Falcons are both 2-3 SU and ATS going into week 6 NFL betting, looking to pick up a pivotal win. Both are desperate to get back on track but neither has a  solid enough defense to inspire confidence in NFL betting circles. So which way do NFL bettors lean on their NFL picks?

For our money, we’re backing the Falcons as the 3-point chalk. Bears are giving up 26.2 points per game while the Falcons are giving up around 28.6 points per game. If there were an edge to tip the balance, it would be the Falcons offense and the quality of Matt Ryan. Jay Cutler and the Bears offense are sure to have success against the Falcons’ porous defense, but the centre’s penchant for turnovers, costly interceptions and misfires could render any offense a moot discussion. It could prove deciding altogether.

NFL Picks: Falcons -3.0 (-125) at 5Dimes
