The St. Louis Rams land in the worst situational spot in the NFL this week, which makes the Kansas Chiefs a valuable against-the-spread pick Sunday afternoon.

Despite getting out-gained by a triple-digit margin, St. Louis picked up a 28-26 victory over the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks as 6.5-point home underdogs, as veteran head coach Jeff Fisher got creative on special teams.

The Rams may need to get creative once again in that facet of the game, as quarterback Austin Davis will prepare to face the No. 2 pass defense in the league, while the crowd set a Guinness World record for a 142.2 decibel crowd roar in a game earlier this season.

It’s important to point out that the franchise is 10-24 ATS as road underdogs of 3.5 to 7 points in its last 34 opportunities.

Returning Home
Andy Reid improved to 14-2 SU in games immediately following a bye week in his coaching career, as Kansas City earned a 23-20 victory over the San Diego Chargers as three-point road underdogs, while going UNDER the betting total for a second consecutive week.

Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith has thrown eight touchdowns and just a single interception in his last four games, which can’t be ignored when making your NFL picks, as that pick represents the team’s lone turnover in its last three affairs.

Since the start of the 1992 campaign, the team is a dominating 19-6 SU and 18-7 ATS when taking on foes out of the NFC West division.

Stopping the Run
The Rams are going to be difficult to back as underdogs when looking over the NFL odds, as they rank 28th in the league in surrendering145.0 yards per game.

St. Louis also sits in the same position in allowing opposing backs to gain 4.8 yards per carry, which could prove troublesome when facing Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis.

Controlling the Football
The Chiefs held the ball for nearly 40 minutes in their Week 7 triumph over the Chargers, which is one of the main reasons why they rank behind just the Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions in time-of-possession.

Charles is listed as probable on the latest injury reports due to concussion-like symptoms, but expect him to be a major part of Reid’s game play after becoming the team’s all-time leading rusher last week.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Chiefs as one of their top picks, as the Rams fall into one of the worst scheduling spots of the year—hosting a pair of division rivals before heading to Arrowhead Stadium—followed up by a pair of road games against such foes.
