Overall Totals

NFC North rivals Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings top the ‘Overall NFL Over Under Totals Betting Results’ list with a 12-4-0 (O-U-P) mark on 2013. Denver Broncos, the eventual Super Bowl runners-up, finished the regular season with an 11-5-0 record on the totals, a mark closely followed by Cincinnati Bengals (10-5-1) and Buffalo Bills (10-6-0).

Some of the worst teams (read: bottom of the list) are those you’d expect to find there given their overall season. For instance, Oakland Raiders with a 7-8-1 mark are amongst the bottom 10 on the list. That Super Bowl champions Seattle Seahawks are second to last on the list with 6-10-0 mark might surprise some NFL bettors. Also hovering at the bottom of the list: Kansas City Chiefs with a 7-9-0 record, a record matched identically by New York Giants and San Diego Chargers. Carolina Panthers on a 5-11-0 record prop up the entire field.

In certain cases, streaks practically leap off the page. For instance, the Broncos opened the season on a streak of eight successive Overs before receiving a bye in week 9 NFL betting. What’s also very interesting is that immediately after their bye week they come up Under for the first time on the season and proceeded to hit the Over only in three of their last eight games of the regular season. Talk about a tale of two different halves.

Others to hit streaks included Minnesota Vikings with five straight Overs to start the season and Chicago Bears with four straight. Only two teams opened the season on a run of Unders – Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, both with four straight. Not unlike the Broncos, the Chiefs flipped the script following a bye in week 10 NFL betting, going Over in five of their last seven games.

Home NFL Totals

Six teams scored a 6-2-0 mark at home – Bears, Bengals, Titans, Broncos, Texans and Vikings – with the latter three enjoying a run of five straight Over results, marking the longest streak. The Carolina Panthers once again prop up the field with a 2-6-0 mark at home while the last two Super Bowl Champions – Ravens and Seahawks – fell into the bottom ten with a 3-5-0 mark respectively. The 49ers, Chiefs and Packers matched their 3-5-0 as well. Of this lot, the Ravens went Under in five straight games before finishing the season on three straight Overs at home. Only the Raiders came close with four straight Unders to start the season.

Road NFL Totals

Five teams scored a 6-2-0 mark on the road Bears, Bills, Eagles, Packers and Vikings. The 49ers matched the Broncos with a 5-3-0 mark, as did the Cowboys, Jaguars, Jets, Raiders and Ravens. Ten teams finished with a 4-4-0 mark, including Chiefs, Colts and Patriots to name a few. While the Seahawks, Panthers, Chargers, Giants and Buccaneers mustered up a 3-5-0 mark. Detroit Lions come in second to last with a 2-5-1 mark and the New Orleans Saints wrapped their road output with a 2-6-0 mark. The longest NFL betting streak in this category appears to have been with the Philadelphia Eagles, who went on a run of five games going Over on the road, a run that spanned weeks 1-9. Towards the end of the season, four straight Overs by Vikings marks the longest streak.

Conversely, the longest stretch going Under at the start of the season amounted to just three games and that was with the Detroit Lions between weeks 1-5. While the longest streak going Under to finish the season amounted to four straight games with the New Orleans Saints from weeks 12-17.
