Cincinnati Bengals (-2-) vs. New York Jets 1:00 EST
What a fantastic start to the 2016 football season on this site!  Combined with a 4-0 ATS mark on NFL games (after the Denver (+3) winner Thursday night), the College Football selections in Week 1 went 7-1 ATS for a combined mark of 11-1 ATS to begin your football season!  I assure you that every weekend will not be that good.  But, if you follow the advice in my analyses this season, there is an extremely, high probability you will have more winners than losers.

A late-season injury to QB Dalton, combined with WR injuries the entire season, saw the Bengals fade to a 12-4 SU record after an 8-0 SU ATS start. It culminated with their 5th consecutive round 1 playoff loss, when the Bengals fell to the Steelers 18-16, courtesy of 4 costly turnovers. The loss of OC Hue Jackson to the rival Cleveland Browns is a potential concern because of the strong bond he had with Dalton. The WR corps has been shored up with the addition of LaFell from New England, and the promise of Tyler Boyd from the Pitt Panthers. Nonetheless, the public is in love with the return of QB Dalton, as the Bengals were 10-1 ATS in the games he started and finished.

Flying under the radar in this contest, and getting a benefit of 2 1/2 points from the public love of the Bengals, are these New York Jets. There’s little doubt that Jets’ QB Fitzpatrick is a notch below his counterpart, Dalton. On the other hand, there is little doubt that the first season under 2nd year HC Bowles was a resounding success. Bowles guided the team, who in the previous three years under Rex Ryan had meandered to an 18-30 SU record, being outscored consistently by an average of 24-18. Bowles turned that around when his Jets outgained the opposition 370-319, improving by 5 or more points on both their offensive and defensive scoring numbers. That meant the Jets had top 10 numbers in both offense and defense, yet their 10-6 SU record left them on the outside looking in of the playoff picture. To further understand the Jets success last season, understand that they outgained 13 of 16 opponents, including each of their final 6 foes. No surprise that there are numbers favoring the Jets, who were 4-0 ATS as dog under Bowles. Combined with the fact they’re on a recent run of 7-3 ATS as home dog and have won their last 5 season openers, you can see why it is a short leap to the value that is the New York Jets.

I invite you to put the NFL Odds in your favor and join me in my NFL Pick on the NY Jets this afternoon.
