There has been a marked improvement with our NFL picks in the second half of the season, and last Sunday we ripped the bookmakers with a 3-0 record ATS. Let’s wrap up the regular season on a high note as we look to sweep again in Week 17.

NFL Week 17

All season our top NFL picks have been hitting, but early in the season it was the lower unit selections that were keeping us down. However, as the season progressed and more information about who was who in the league became apparent, we have been clicking on all cylinders. Last week we notched ATS covers with the Bears (3 units), Redskins (2 units), and Chiefs (4 units) for a trifecta of winners and nine units to the good.

Let’s tread cautiously in Week 17 as many teams have clinched and their only goal is to stay healthy for the postseason. The NFL odds clearly reflect as much, with good teams getting points instead of giving them to their less-than-stellar opponents. Time to peer inside our crystal ball and keep bangin’ the book!

Texans vs. Colts

Free NFL Pick: Colts -4 (4 units)Best Line Offered: Bovada

The Texans are so bad at this point, due to all their injuries, that fading them against virtually anybody is good business. Houston has an atrocious offensive line, and quarterback T.J. Yates is barely serviceable with a stellar line but abysmal with a bad one.

The Texans have scored an average of 10½ points per game over their last four, and dynamic Colts receiver T.Y. Hilton is poised to have another monster game. In the previous meeting between these AFC South rivals, on November 9, Hilton caught five passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns in the Colts’ 20-14 win in Houston. The venue has changed to Indy for this one but the results will be the same – a win and a cover for the Colts.

Bengals vs. Ravens

Free NFL Pick: Ravens -9½ (2 units)Best Line Offered: JustBet

Vontaze Burfict, Cincinnati’s top linebacker, might miss this one with a shoulder injury suffered last week against the Lions, and his absence could spell doom for the Bungles. Baltimore is still playing for their playoff lives, and there is no reason to believe they won’t dominate their AFC North foes this week as they did in their season opener, when their defense pitched a shutout in Baltimore’s 20-0 victory. Lay it and like it.

Raiders vs. Chargers

Free NFL Pick: Raiders +9 (-125) (2 units)Best Line Offered: 5Dimes

Los Angeles needs this game to fulfill their postseason aspirations, but quite frankly the line is too high. I like the Raiders in this spot to at least keep pace with the mercurial Chargers, but the public appears to be swooning on the chalk, as is their custom. However, the sharp side says this will be a closely fought divisional battle, as it has been since 2013, pre-Derek Carr. Since that time, games between these AFC West foes have been decided by eight points or less. Oakland lost 17-16 to the Bolts earlier this season, and another close contest is anticipated in this regular season wrap-up.

The Woodman’s Corner (12-4 ATS, +7.6 units)

Ho hum, the Woodman won again. The man is just showing off at this point, absolutely smashing these numbers and making the bookies cry. He is capping at a positively sizzling 75 percent this season and taking no prisoners as he did last week with the Buccaneers +10 in their cover against the Panthers.

Free NFL Pick: Rams +3½ (-113)Best Line Offered: BetOnline

This week he says the legend of Sweet Jimmy G in San Francisco will take a hit as the Niners travel south to battle the L.A. Rams. As even a casual fan knows, the 49ers have been rejuvenated since ex-Pat Jimmy Garoppolo took the reins under center for San Francisco, and the fact they are 3½-point road chalk over the playoff-bound Rams says all you need to know about Super Bowl contenders playing to avoid the trainer’s table rather than winning a meaningless game. The Woodman says even L.A.’s second-stringers are better than San Francisco’s starters, so grab those points and cash that ticket!
