The Seattle Seahawks try and bounce back from a bad loss on a short week with a trip to the desert Thursday to square off against the Arizona Cardinals in a slated 8:25 p.m. (ET) kickoff on NBC.

Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals (+5.5, 41.5)

Seattle let one slip away in Sunday’s last-minute 17-14 loss to Washington as an 8-point home favorite. The loss dropped the Seahawks to 5-3 with a 3-5 record against the spread. The total stayed UNDER 44.5 points in that game and it has stayed in five of their first eight games this season. Seattle is an even 2-2 ATS on the road and 2-3 ATS when closing as a favorite.

While Russell Wilson has put up some big numbers throwing the ball the past few games to add to his 2,305 total passing yards this season, there has to be some genuine concern with the lingering inconsistencies in this offense from one game to the next. The Seahawks rushed the ball for 148 yards against the Redskins in a loss after gaining just 33 yards on the ground the week before in a wild 41-38 victory against Houston. Seattle remains stout on defense with a points-allowed average of 18.6.

The Cardinals won for the third time in their last five games with Sunday’s 20-10 victory against San Francisco as 2.5-point road favorites. This evened their record on the year to 4-4, but they are still just 2-6 ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in six of their eight games this year. Arizona returns home with a 1-2 record ATS in three previous games at University of Phoenix Stadium, and it has gone 1-3 ATS when closing as an underdog.

With Carson Palmer done for the season with a broken arm, Drew Stanton has taken his place at quarterback. He completed 15 of 30 passing attempts for 201 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday’s win. Larry Fitzgerald caught five passes for 70 yards, but the biggest star of the day was Adrian Peterson, who breathed new life into the Cardinals’ running game with 159 yards rushing on 37 carries. The Cardinals are still 31st in the league in rushing yards and 26th in scoring with an average of 17.4 points per game.

Game Betting Trends
  • The Seahawks have gone a perfect 7-0 ATS in their last seven Thursday games and they are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games played in Week 10. The total has stayed UNDER in seven of their last 10 division games.
  • The Cardinals are 5-13 ATS in their last 18 home games and they have failed to cover in 14 of their last 18 games against a team with a SU winning record. The total has stayed UNDER in nine of their 12 game against a division opponent.
  • The road team in this NFC West clash has covered in the last five meetings and the total has gone OVER in 10 of the last 13 games played in Arizona.

The Verdict

Both teams need a win to keep pace with the Rams in the NFC West title race, but I have to defer to Seattle in this one as the better all-around team with a significant edge on defense. With the current spread sitting at 5.5 points, I would lay the points and take Seattle ATS as my top NFL pick in this one.
