We study the NFL odds for the Arizona Cardinals vs. St. Louis Rams game to provide our Lone Ranger contrary play of the day.

Arizona Cardinals (-7) vs. St Louis Rams 1:00 ET
The Arizona Cardinals travel to St Louis for this division rivalry game vs the Rams scheduled for a 1 pm ET kick. Last week, our Lone Ranger NFL play of the week was Washington (+2), who led the Giants 20-0 before settling for a 6 point victory. That win boosted the NFL Lone Ranger play of the week to 11-1 ATS. As usual, this very contrary play will be one that will attract very little public money. After all, Arizona is playing this game with lone home loss revenge for a (24-22) defeat in the desert on October 4th. But with the line nearly what it was on their home field, and the two teams headed in apparently opposite directions, there is no longer line value in backing the Cardinals in this one. That does not deter the public from lining up in droves in what is arguably the most popular public play of the day.

Arizona Cardinals
Arizona enters at 9-2 SU, 7-4 ATS with 5 consecutive victories. That includes high profile wins at Seattle three weeks ago (39-32) and Cincinnati two weeks ago (34-31). After playing a win, no cover, vs the 49ers last week as 10 point road chalk in a letdown situation, the thinking is they will be primed for the revenge outing this week. Their year to date numbers on both offense and defense certainly confirm that. They are outscoring the opposition 32-21, out gaining them 410-327, and hold a 6.5 to 5.5 YP play differential. Those are all good reasons why they are 9-2 SU this season.

St. Louis Rams
The St. Louis Rams are at the totally opposite end of the spectrum. Five weeks ago, St Louis was 4-3 SU ATS, but the wheels have fallen off in the last month with an 0-4 SU ATS record. Major issue has been an offense that has totaled only 51 points in those four games. They reached the nadir of their discontent last week in a 31-7 road loss to the Bengals, who had a +2 net turnover margin in the game and outrushed the Rams 140-94. The Rams have issues with injuries to their OL and a QB controversy, with neither Foles nor Keenum performing to expectations. Today they will be fielding an offense which has averaged just 17 PPG and only 304 YPG.

It would be easy to see why the Rams would toss the towel at this point in the season with virtually no chance to make the playoffs. And why the Arizona Cardinals would come with full focus, not only for playoff positioning, but also to avenge their only home loss. These are exactly the type of situations that have resulted in 11-1 ATS success for the Lone Ranger this season. I invite you to put the NFL odds in your favor, and follow my NFL pick on the St Louis Rams as the Lone Ranger contrary play of the day.
