With high expectations placed on the Green Bay Packers in 2015-2016 as one of the teams to spot on your NFL picks, bold predictions are few and far in between. Nevertheless, we've cracked on and rustled up a few.
Can Green Bay Packers Punch At Their Weight Class?
Green Bay Packers were mere mins away from reaching Super Bowl 49, only for a spectacular collapse that allowed the Seahawks to gain the improbable win and reach their second straight Super Bowl. Now, the Packers must move beyond that massive disappointment and refocus for the 2015-2016 NFL season.
Encouragingly, the prognosis is massively favorable for MVP Aaron Rodgers and his Packers. They are the second overall favorites to win Super Bowl 50 at +650 and the to win the NFC Conference at +350; second only to the Seattle Seahawks in both markets. In the NFC North, they are the runaway favorites at -275 to win the title for a fifth straight season.
Last year, the Packers won the title behind a 12-4 SU record and carried the momentum into the playoffs, where they lost the NFC Championship game to the Seahawks after leading it for the better part of 60 minutes. They'll be looking to get their revenge if the opportunity presents itself as the NFL odds seem to suggest it will. But the question is whether they can boldly go where most teams only wish they could go?
Here we have a few bold predictions for the Green Bay Packers in 2015-2016; NFL picks to spot so to speak.
1. Packers To Win the NFC Conference
As it is, the Green Bay Packers are the second favorites to win the NFC Championship game at +350 NFL odds. Consider they are amongst the top two faves in the Conference, it doesn't appear to be the boldest NFL pick currently circulating in NFL betting circles. But there's a boldness to it when you consider it could very well come at the expense of the Seattle Seahawks, only the team to beat according to odds makers in the coming season. What's more, for all Aaron Rodgers' quality, skill and undeniable talent, the Packers have only ever won the NFC Championships three times. Winning it just once in 2010-2011 over the Chicago Bears. So backing the Packers to advance into Super Bowl 50 behind only their second NFC Championship title at +350 is a bold pick.
2. Green Bay Packers Win Super Bowl 50
At first glance, this is also rather a run-of-the-mill NFL pick. In the sense, that many are contemplating it as a reasonable NFL pick this season based on the Packers' account in 2014. Many are of the opinion that had Aaron Rodgers been 100%, the spectacular collapse against Seattle may not have happened.
In any event, the Packers have made only one Super Bowl appearance, which they won over the Steelers in 2010-2011. As mentioned above, they've had three cracks at the NFC Championship game and only won once. In the context of the entire NFL field, it's a bold NFL pick at this early vantage point to predict that the Packers will win Super Bowl 50. Last season, the Seahawks were the team to beat but the Patriots emerged the champions.
3. Aaron Rodgers Wins Passer Race
As it is, Andrew Luck is tipped as the favorite to top the Passing charts in the NFL this coming season. Aaron Rodgers, meanwhile, is the second favorite at tempting +500 NFL odds. Given that he was severely hindered down the stretch with a hamstring injury, one wonders where he would have won that race last season. Certainly, he would have been much higher than his seventh-place finish with 4, 381 yards. At face value, this may not seem a bold NFL pick. However, if you look closely at his career, he only once threw more than 4,500 yards in a season. (Last year's top spots were taken by the tandem of Drew Brees and Ben Roethlisberger, both of which threw a staggering 4, 952 yards). We're predicting a monster season by the MVP, something he's done once before only. Hence, it's a bold NFL pick.
