Carolina remains unbeaten at 12-0 after holding off New Orleans. Atlanta is 6-6 and struggling badly, but they would love to hand their NFC South rivals their first loss of the season.

The Panthers came out as 7.5-point favorites at home and that is where the NFL odds sit as of Thursday. It was close, but the Panthers won 41-38 at New Orleans behind another five-touchdown day from QB Cam Newton. Carolina's star has to be leading the MVP race now and even though they gave up 38 points, the Saints have a good offense and the Panthers made plays when they had to, and 16-0 is very much in play. The Falcons would love to have something to say about that, but they fell 23-19 in Tampa Bay, their first of three road games in a row, and they have lost five straight. Matt Ryan has thrown seven picks during this stretch and even though he has eight touchdowns as well, you can't give the ball away that much. Ryan against Newton is going to be a storyline, but the matchup to watch in this game is Atlanta WR Julio Jones against Carolina CB Josh Norman. Both are playing at an extremely high level and might be the best at their positions this season, so that should be fun.

Jones was limited in Wednesday's practice for the Falcons, but he should be fine for Sunday, so don't worry about that. The Falcons finally gave up on WR Leonard Hankerson, who was placed on the injured-reserve list because of a hamstring that has been bothering him all season.

The Panthers had a host of veterans take the day off on Wednesday, including players like TE Greg Olsen and RB Jonathan Stewart. CB Charles Tillman was limited with a knee injury and he didn't play against the Saints, so that is something to watch.

The Falcons are 4-8 ATS this season, going 2-4 on the road, while the Panthers are 9-3 ATS overall and 4-2 ATS at home. With a total of 46, the Panthers have gone over eight times this season, while the Falcons have gone under nine times with a push.

The Panthers are 4-6 SU and 5-5 ATS in their last 10 meetings with the Falcons, who are 5-5 SU and 4-6 ATS in Carolina.
