Green Bay Packers enter the NFL 2014-2015 season amidst high expectations across sportsbooks, as bookies chalk the line at a whopping 10.5 total wins. Will the Packers’ regular season wins go Over or Under that lofty mark? Let’s find out by examining the Packers’ NFL schedule while projecting predictions on the outcomes of each game.

Green Bay Packers going for Fourth Divisional Title
Green Bay Packers have won the NFC North title three years in a row and they are the bookies favourites at -138 to runaway with a fourth straight title since 2011. Dominating division rivals has had a hand in their success; in 2011, they were a perfect 6-0 in the NFC North while the year following they went 5-1. Last season, they went 3-2-1 in the division but won it regardless with an 8-7-1 record. So lopsided is the field. It should also be pointed out that they accomplished the feat without Aaron Rodgers down the stretch.  The Chicago Bears, 2010 titleholders, are matched at +300 to win the NFC North, while the Detroit Lions come up a smidgen behind at +320. Only Minnesota Vikings are written off, drifting on incredible +1800 odds.

Let’s look at Green Bay Packers’ schedule in order to determine whether they’ll come through on expectations or not.

Week 1 @ Seattle
Taking on the Super Bowl champions is the equivalent of drawing the short straw in NFL scheduling. It’s not a great way to begin a campaign, but so they must. Taking on a top quarterback in Russell Wilson and a formidable defense that is virtually unbeatable at home is a tall order, even for the high-octane offense the Packers boast.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 2 vs. New York Jets
The Jets have some interesting offensive pieces, including Eric Decker and Michael Vick (assuming he starts) that could make this a competitive affair. Green Bay Packers have home ground advantage however and a lethal offense that should see them through to victory.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 3 @ Detroit
This is a divisional clash the Packers will look to dominate this season. Last season, they split the series but Aaron Rodgers only featured in the first clash, which they won 22-9 at home. The reverse saw them fall 40-10 in Detroit. The Lions will be no pushovers however so this could go either way.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 4 @ Chicago
The Bears are set to host the Packers, only their biggest divisional rivals, in a short week, after trekking between the west and east coasts no less – they take on the Niners in week 2, Jets in week 3 before hosting the Packers in week 4. Chicago Bears offense was beefed up during the offseason, which suggests they could give the Packers a run for their money. But given the scheduling realities, it’s a game the Packers should take at the expense of a weary Bears.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 5 vs. Minnesota
The Packers have dominated this divisional rivalry in recent memory. They should continue to do so; especially, if Aaron Rodgers is in form and given they have home advantage.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 6 @ Miami
This is a game the Packers will look as a must-win game to further their playoff hopes. The Dolphins are coming off a tumultuous season marred by scandal and bad press, and it’s not yet certain that all those distractions are fully behind them. Packers’ high-octane offense should ride roughshod over the Dolphins.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 7 vs. Carolina
The Panthers are flush off a great season that saw them finish top of the NFC South pile behind a 12-4 mark. Crucially, they played well at home and on the road, totting up a 7-1-0 record at home and a 5-3-0 record on the road. The Panthers loom large, especially if Cam Newton is in full health. Packers should win at home; Panthers could deliver the road upset.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 8 @ New Orleans
The Saints went unbeaten at home last season and for good reason. If Drew Brees and the Saints are in similar form, the Packers will be hard pressed to take the victory in the Superdome.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 9 Bye

Week 10 vs. Chicago
The Packers are coming off a bye week and will be well rested and raring to take this series in a sweep. They haven’t lost at home to the Bears with Aaron Rodgers at the helm. That trend should hold.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 11 vs. Philadelphia
The Eagles high-octane offense was a major talking point of the 2013 season, seemingly coming out of nowhere when Nick Foles took over the starting quarterback role. In fact, they beat a Rodger-less Packers at home last season 27-13. This should be a highly entertaining clash for NFL bettors to spot. The Packers should win with home advantage, but don’t underestimate the Eagles pulling off the upset.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 12 @ Minnesota
Few NFL bettors are taking the Vikings seriously this season. Simply put, they are in the development phase. On offense, Vikings could turn this into a shootout. On defense, they could still be working things out under Mike Zimmer. Packers have a shot to take the road win against their lesser divisional rivals.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 13 vs. New England
The Patriots are beatable on the road. That’s what the Packers have to focus on when they host Tom Brady in week 13. What’s more, the Packers have the lethal offense to be able to give Tom Brady a run for his money. Can they pull it off? They should. But don’t be surprised if they don’t.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 14 vs. Atlanta
The Falcons were last season’s punching bag. If that trend holds true in 2014, this should be a straightforward win for the Packers.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 15 @ Buffalo
Where the Bills might be tough to beat is on defense. They are a solid bunch on that side of the ball and that could challenge Aaron Rodgers and his potent offense on the road.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 16 @ Tampa
There’s a lot of upside in Tampa, which suggests this matchup could prove closer than most expect it to be. That said if Aaron Rodgers is 100% he should make enough plays to take the road win.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 17 vs. Detroit
Detroit Lions have had a tendency to self-destruct down the stretch. If this trend holds true, the Packers should enjoy a straightforward win at home.
NFL Pick: Win

NFL Betting Verdict
By our lofty estimation, we have the Packers going towards a 12-4 season or thereabouts. Assuming Aaron Rodgers is healthy and they completely dominate a relatively beatable NFC North division with a nigh-perfect record, they’d need to win barely half of the remaining games on the schedule in order to go Over 10.5. That does seem probable NFL pick, don’t you think?
