Opening Odds & Line Movement
Open: -8 -104 at Pinnacle
Detroit came out as 8-point favorites at home and the NFL odds have moved to -9 for the Lions, who held on for a 35-27 win in New Orleans on Monday night. The Lions have played inspired football over the last six weeks, and probably should have five wins in their last six if not for a late Hail Mary loss to Green Bay. The 49ers fell 24-14 to Cincinnati at home and as usual, it was the same old story for San Francisco, who just can't score enough points. To put it in perspective, the 49ers are averaging 14.4 points; the next team is St. Louis, who is averaging 17.2 points. The Lions don't have a great defense, ranking 18th in yards allowed and 28th in points allowed, but the 49ers simply can't generate points against anyone and that has to be rectified going into next season.

RB Shaun Draughn has to get an MRI on his knee and is listed as day to day, another injury to the San Francisco backfield. He is the fourth San Francisco RB to go on the injured list as Carlos Hyde, Reggie Bush and Mike Davis are all gone for the season. It has been that kind of year for the 49ers.

The Lions might be without S Glover Quin, who has a concussion and they might sit him out for the rest of the season. That would be the smart thing as the Lions are looking ahead to 2016, and they would like to have Quin in the secondary.

The 49ers are 6-8 ATS this season, going 2-5 ATS on the road, while the Lions are 5-9 ATS overall and 2-5 ATS at home. The total is set for 43 and the Lions have gone over eight times this season, and the 49ers have gone under eight times.

San Francisco has owned Detroit, going 9-1 SU (nine wins in a row; Detroit's last win came in September 1995) and 6-2-2 ATS. In Detroit, the 49ers are 5-4 SU and 5-2 ATS since 1980.
