The NFL season had its twists and turns, but it had a familiar ending. Tom Brady won it all at the end by making plays to Rob Gronkowski. However, he wasn’t doing it for the New England Patriots.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won their second Super Bowl behind the leadership of the greatest to ever play the game of football. Tom Brady now has more Super Bowl rings than any franchise in NFL history.

This game was supposed to be a nail-biter, but it was far from that. If either team were to pull off a blowout win. Most would expect it to be the Chiefs. After all, betting odds favored Kansas City by over a field goal according to top sportsbooks.

Tom Brady and the Bucs had a rough start to the season, but they have been undefeated since their bye week. Just how did they win Super Bowl LV? From their playoff run to their performance against the Chiefs, here is how they made it happen.

Tampa Bay Never Settled in Terms of Talent

When Tampa Bay signed Tom Brady, they knew that they were official in win-now territory. With Brady’s age, they knew what it would take to win with him. They bolstered the offensive line in the NFL Draft with Tristan Wirfs. Brady drew Gronk out of retirement.

Even during the season, the Bucs took flyers in hopes of them paying off. They signed Leonard Fournette despite his struggles in Jacksonville. They signed Antonio Brown despite his troublesome history off of the field.

Tampa Bay knew that they weren’t going to win the Super Bowl by playing it safe. Instead, they took risks with who they signed. Thankfully for the Bucs, they all paid off.

Tom Brady took over the Super Bowl itself, but he relied on the talent around him to get there. When he turned the ball over, the defense stepped up. When players went down, someone filled a role. It was crucial to sign all of these players, but it paid off.

The Bucs won’t be able to sustain this success for long, but they only needed one Super Bowl win to validate the moves. They certainly validated it all in Brady’s first season, and they still have a small window to win another one.

Tampa Bay Dominated the Trenches

Kansas City’s offensive line has been decimated with injuries. Things got worse when their left tackle went down in the AFC Championship. Because of this, protecting Patrick Mahomes was a key to win the Super Bowl for Kansas City.

Obviously, this did not happen and Chiefs backers wept at their NFL picks. Tampa Bay got pressure repeatedly without sending the blitz. For the majority of this game, Patrick Mahomes was running for his life. The Chiefs could not do anything to stop the pressure, and Mahomes could only scramble around and hope for the best.

Mahomes is usually great when plays break down, but this was just too much to overcome. He was already struggling with a toe injury. Every hit was painful, and it was unrealistic to expect Mahomes to take over this game with that little protection.

Tampa Bay was also able to control the line of scrimmage on offense. They ran the ball consistently, and this gave them an extra facet to their game against the Chiefs. Teams that win the trenches usually win the Super Bowl. That was certainly the case in this one.

Tom Brady Took Over

This season had its highs and lows for Tom Brady, but this was his time to shine. In the biggest moment of the season, Brady was ready to cement his legacy, and he did just that. Sports betting picks for him to get the MVP were right on the money.

Brady only had 200 passing yards, but he was incredibly efficient. He threw for three passing touchdowns and only had eight incompletions. The biggest piece of this game is that he had no turnovers. In the other postseason games, Brady relied on his defense to save him after having too many turnovers. In this game, the Buccaneers got to dominate thanks to clean offensive play.

There are plenty of things that helped the Bucs win this game. They got lucky here and there, but they truly proved that they are the best team in the NFL with this postseason run. They will have a tough time repeating, but this is their moment after a long season.
