After successful Week 2 of NFL teasers, Week 3 once again brings about some good NFL Odds value. Follow along as I release my three best bets for teasers this week. All of them are two-teams, and have -110 odds.
Packers and Bengals
After opening as +1 NFL odds underdogs, the Packers are now up to +1 ½, and it seems as if some value is opening up. Although Detroit dominated the Packers last season in Detroit, this is a new season, and Aaron Rodgers is fully recovered and back to speed. Teasing Green Bay up to +7 ½ on the road covers two of the most common spreads, and even still, the Lions are no sure thing to cover or win outright in this game. Rodgers and Jordy Nelson dominated last week, and although the Lions’ defense is above average, I doubt they beat the Packers by double figures.
On the other side we have the Bengals playing host to the Titans. These NFL odds come in favoring the Bengals at -6 ½ or -7 depending on where you’re shopping, however I believe a better wager on this game is the total. Teasing this total of 43 ½ up to 49 ½ may be one of my favorite teaser bets this week. This should by all accounts be a pretty defensive game. There are only four totals that are lower than this one, and with both teams looking like they have a top 10 defense, the under is the play for our NFL picks.
My Pick: Packers +7 ½ & Titans/Bengals 'Under' 49 ½
Colts and Raiders
Indianapolis comes in on a short week to play in Jacksonville, which shouldn’t be much of a problem for Andrew Luck and the Colts. The NFL odds have Indy as a -7 road favorite, so teasing them down to -1 seems like a great play. The Jaguars are going to have very little, if any upside starting Chad Henne, and even though the Colts’ defense is still a little shaky, they played well Monday night, and their running game looked like it could take anyone down. They should win easily.
On the other side is a completely different play, but I think it has as much or more value than any other teaser play this week, At +14, the Raiders are going into New England, and teasing them up to +20 is a no-brainer. Derek Carr could lead his team to only a 14-point deficit, or even nine or ten points depending on which Tom Brady we see. Our good friend, Jeff Grant tweeted out yesterday that the Raiders are 10-0 ATS in their last 10 games against AFC opponents when they are a double-digit underdog. A spread of 20 should be more than enough.
My Pick: Colts -1 & Raiders +20
Saints and Bears
This final teaser is also a pretty good value, but you’ll have to wait until Monday to see if it’s completed. To start I’m going with the Saints at home against the Vikings. Even though Adrian Peterson seems like he is back with the Vikings and ready to play, the Saints should have some value being teased from -9 to -3. It might not be pretty, and it may be closer than some of you are willing to risk, but in the end the Saints will get it done.
On the other side are the Bears, who are heading into New York to play the Jets. Chicago is currently a +3 NFL odds underdog after opening up at a pick em, and with this insane line movement over the last few days, teasing the Bears to +9 looks like a no-brainer once again. If Chicago’s receivers are healthy, and they can overcome the loss of Charles Tillman, they should easily cover their teaser odds.
My Pick: Saints -3 & Bears +9
