As those betting on College Hoops are aware, the Blue Devils have not lost once this season. They should have little trouble scooting past Wofford this afternoon, but where is the best sports betting value hiding?
As usual, the Blue Devils are huge favorites. It's something we've gotten used to seeing, especially during non-conference play. The lines are going to start shrinking come ACC play, but whenever Duke's at home against a non-conference opponent, we're going to see huge numbers time after time.
A total hasn't been posted just yet in NCAA basketball odds, but we recommend staying away from any kind of O/U play when the spreads are this large. Too unpredictable for our liking.
Duke Blue Devils
After a lengthy holiday break, the Blue Devils dusted off some cobwebs and finally found their stride on their way to a 86-69 win over Toledo at home. Duke shot 55.8 percent from the field overall, 40.0 percent from beyond the arc and 73.3 percent from the charity stripe.
It wasn't the best of defensive displays from Duke, as the Rockets were able to connect on 47.5 percent of their looks overall, while getting oh so close to the 70-point mark. However, it still didn't matter, as the Blue Devils were rampant offensively, particularly through two sources: Jahlil Okafor and Quinn Cook. Okafor went off for a career-high 27 points on 12-of-15 shooting and added eight rebounds, while Cook accounted for 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting (two 3-pointers) in the W.
Now it's on to the next one. Duke is still undefeated and will begin conference play in only a matter of days. Picking up another dominant victory heading into ACC action would be another great vote of confidence for a team that's looking as good as any out there, aside from maybe Kentucky.
The Terriers could have taken the easy way out and set up an easy non-conference schedule to pad their record, but they've actually come up against some good competition already this season. Two of their three losses came against West Virginia and then Stanford in their first matchup of the season.
Wofford has had nine days to stew over a blowout loss to the Mountaineers back before Christmas. The Terriers were terribly anemic offensively, shooting an awful 26.8 percent from the floor overall. Karl Cochran and Spencer Collins were the only two guys to hit double figures for Wofford, who came up with a grand total of 44 points in the loss.
Those two have easily been Wofford's most productive players thus far this year. Cochran is averaging 13.3 PPG and 6.8 RPG (while also dishing out a few assists a game), while Collins has averaged 11.4 points a contest. Another source of output couldn't hurt the Terriers, especially up against a team as potent as Duke. It's going to take some kind of miracle for Wofford to even keep this game close.
NCAA Basketball Pick
Though the Blue Devils weren't able to cover for us last time out, we're going right back to the well again this afternoon.
In truth, there's no viable way to stop this Duke team from imposing their will and scoring every time they have possession. With Okafor dominating inside and numerous perimeter players who can make things happen, opponents are finding that out the hard way, especially inside Cameron Indoor, where the Blue Devils haven't lost for quite some time.
As we've said countless times before, there are circumstances in which we think it's perfectly fine to lay this many points. Duke actually had some trouble containing Toledo the other day, and that's something Coach K can't be happy about. Look for the Blue Devils to come out and overwhelm Wofford en route to the win and ATS cashed ticket for those placing NCAA Basketball pick on them.
