Here are my recommendations for the top matchups found on today's NCAA basketball odds board. Join me in this preview as I choose my favorite NCAA basketball picks for the day.

No. 19 West Virginia vs. Virginia Tech (+8.5 For NCAA Basketball Picks)
With it being a holiday week, that means there is afternoon action on the NCAA basketball odds board for weekdays and it's a noon tip off from Blacksburg for this non-conference finale for both schools. West Virginia (10-1) has won every game but one by double digits and has blown three opponents out since its lone loss at a neutral site to an excellent Virginia team. WVU leads the country in steals and forced turnovers. West Virginia has forced 30 or more turnovers in three games this season. No other team has done it once. WVU is holding its opponents to 0.81 points per possession, the second lowest rate in the country behind Purdue. The Mountaineers have won 13 of their past 17 games overall against ACC teams. This is the second ranked team that Virginia Tech (8-4) has faced this season; it lost 99-77 against then-No. 4 Iowa State in Florida. The Hokies lost freshman forward Chris Clarke to a fractured foot while working out last week. He's out indefinitely. Clarke ranks fourth on the Hokies in scoring (10.5 ppg) and minutes (25.7 mpg) and second in rebounding (7.4 rpg). West Virginia leads the all-time series 48-30 and won last year in Morgantown by 31. But Virginia Tech has won the past two meetings at Cassell Coliseum and is 16-9 there vs. WVU all-time.

WVU is 2-9 ATS in its past 11 Wednesday games. Tech has covered six of the past seven meetings.

Clemson vs. No. 7 North Carolina (-16 On NCAA Basketball Odds)
The Tigers have won as many games in Chapel Hill as you and I have. That would be zero. They are 0-57 all-time at North Carolina, the longest home winning streak/road losing streak in Division I history. So there's nowhere to go but up! Clemson (7-5) at least will be well-rested as it hasn't played since a 71-48 loss at Georgia on Dec. 22. The Dawgs aren't very good so I give Clemson just about zero chance to end this losing streak on Wednesday. The Tigers are in search of a win over a Naismith Hall of Fame head coach for the third straight season. Clemson defeated Mike Krzyzewski’s Duke team in 2014 and Jim Boeheim-led Syracuse last season. UNC's Roy Williams also is a Hall of Famer. The Tigers' best player is Jaron Blossomgame, who is their leading scorer (15.4 ppg) and rebounder (6.8 rpg). Clemson's last best chance to finally win in Chapel Hill was s double-overtime loss in the 2007-08 season. The Tigers do have eight all-time wins over North Carolina teams ranked in the Top 10 but not since 2001. North Carolina routed UNC Greensboro 96-63 on Monday. Star point guard Marcus Paige was a game-time call with a minor ankle injury but did play and had 14 points in 21 minutes. UNC forward Kennedy Meeks, who is averaging 12.3 points and is second on the team with 7.4 rebounds, missed his fourth straight game with a bone bruise on his left knee. He won't return this week.

Free NCAAB Pick: North Carolina. Clemson is 1-6 ATS in its past seven road games. UNC has covered seven straight in the series.

Oakland vs. No. 5 Virginia (-15 In NCAA Betting)
I'm not going to predict an Oakland upset here, but it also wouldn't shock me as the Golden Grizzlies are a good mid-major team and have one dynamic player in junior guard Kahlil Felder. He is second in the nation in scoring at 26.6 points per game. Oakland won't be intimidated by playing the Wahoos. That's because Oakland (8-4) already won at Washington and last week nearly upset No. 1 Michigan State outside of Detroit. Felder had 37 points and nine rebounds in that one. The Golden Grizzlies are off a 101-93 win over Chicago State on Monday. Felder had 23 points, 13 assists and a career-best eight steals. Virginia (10-1) has won nine straight since its lone loss to George Washington. The Cavs were pushed to the limit at home last Tuesday in edging Cal 63-62 in overtime. UVA ranks ninth nationally in scoring defense (59.2 ppg). Malcolm Brogdon leads UVA in scoring for third straight year at a career-best 16.5 points per game. This is the first meeting between these schools.

For your NCAA basketball picks, keep in mind that perhaps UVA is looking ahead to the ACC opener Saturday against Notre Dame. Oakland has covered 12 of its past 16 vs. teams with a winning record.
