The No. 6 USC Trojans were a hot college basketball pick in November. They might not even go dancing if they don’t beat the No. 11 Washington Huskies this Wednesday.

  Washington vs. USC

The USC Trojans were ranked in the Top 25 over the holidays. Now they could be one loss away from missing out on March Madness. The Trojans are the No. 6 seed for Wednesday’s Pac-12 Tournament nightcap (11:30 p.m. ET, PAC12) with the No. 11 Washington Huskies; USC has opened as an 11-point favorite on the NCAAB odds board, so at least the Trojans are very likely to win straight-up.

Against the spread, we’re not so sure. USC (23-8 SU, 15-15 ATS) was a profitable college basketball pick in non-conference play, and they had no trouble putting down the Huskies (9-21 SU, 8-20-1 ATS) home and away. However, the Trojans are highly overvalued at this point, sitting at No. 61 on Ken Pomeroy’s efficiency charts. This could be a “buy-low” opportunity on the No. 172-ranked Huskies.

The thing is, Washington is really, really bad this year. And while 11 points may yet prove to be too many on neutral ground in Las Vegas, at least the Trojans will have the extra motivation of sitting on the NCAA Tournament bubble – losing to the Huskies is simply not an option if they want a March Madness invitation.
