The biggest underdogs in the opening round of the ACC Tournament, Boston College, laces ‘em up to play a team still fighting to make the NCAA Tournament, Wake Forest, in a game in which the Sharps pounded the favorite Demon Deacons from open, sending the Point Spread from 10 to 12½ and even 13 in some places. So, let’s investigate if there’s still any value to be had in backing John Collins and Wake Forest.

  Wake Forest vs. Boston College

Fifteenth-seed Boston College (250/1 to win ACC Tournament, BetOnline) is 4-1 ATS L5 against #10-seed Wake Forest (40/1, BetOnline) but are just 1-7 ATS L8 overall. The SBR Oddsboard shows sportsbooks opened the Demon Deacons as 10½-point favorites in this matchup —they are now up to 12½— which has seen the Over go 12-5 L17. With the Over 13-3 L16 Wake Forest (19-8-1 O/U) games and 9-3 L12 BC overall, it’s tempting to want to look at the Total, but remember, the new site (Barclays Center) and its rims are unfamiliar to ACC teams. When these two played in Chestnut Hill, the Eagles (13-13 ATS) covered as 6½-point underdogs in an 85-80 loss (157½) to Wake (15-13 ATS) while in Winston-Salem, the Demon Deacons also won but failed to cover as 15-point chalks, 79-66 (154½). With the Eagles (2-16 SU vs. ACC) L14 straight by an average of 13.5 ppg, backing scared March Madness Bubble-boys Wake and laying the lumber is the prescription. As mentioned, this opened at 10½ and was quickly bet to 12½ with a 160 Total at time of publishing.
