The Boston College Eagles have had a disappointing season as they sit at .500 and must navigate their way through inter-conference play. Tonight, the task becomes even more difficult as they host the 16th ranked Virginia Cavaliers. The Cavs possess a victory over Louisville on their resume along with winning 2 straight games. Is the number too high in this game is the question?

#15 Virginia Cavaliers (13-3) vs Boston College Eagles (9-9) Is Virginia Beatable?

I'm not sure if the Boston College Eagles could pull off the upset here, but this is a Virginia team which is 1-2 against AP Top 25 teams, highlighted by their 61-53 victory over Louisville. While this is a very good squad, they're not an overwhelming team offensively. Defense is what defines the Cavaliers as they allow a mere 53.4. That said, the Eagles play well at home and with 20 point scorer, Jerome Robinson, leading the way, B.C. should should be competitive in this matchup.

Big Money Player

Despite his recent 9 point output in a loss to Syracuse, Jerome Robinson has proven that he can be effective against the top teams in the country as he recently recorded 26 points against N.C. State and 21 points against Duke.

For the season, Robinson is averaging 20.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. This is a two-way player that possesses great size and a fine overall game. I find it difficult to believe that Virginia can fully contain him. Look for Robinson to have a bounce back effort as he's not afraid to shoot the basketball and delivers on most occasions.

Boston College would like to forget about their 76-53 loss to Syracuse as 2nd leading scorer Ky Bowman was a "no-show" in that game. Prior to his 3 point effort against the Orange, Bowman averaged over 20 points per game in his 4 most recent games. This is significantly higher than his 12.2 points per game per season.Look for keep this game relatively close as Virginia doesn't have the offensive firepower to support the odds.

London Perrantes

One player that Boston College will need to contain for success is leading scorer London Perrantes. Perrantes leads the Cavaliers at 12.1 points per game on a very deep squad. In his last 2 games against Clemson and Wake Forest, Perrantes is averaging 24.5 points per game on 8 of 13 shooting from 3 point range. Perrantes should pose a threat to the Eagles, but I still think the odds are too high and I'm siding with the underdog Eagles.
