On top of the SEC Conference, Freshman Malik Monk and the the 9th ranked Kentucky Wildcats are running on all cylinders as they're currently riding a 6 game winning streak. In the Wildcats way tonight are the Vanderbilt Commodores. The line has Kentucky as a 12.5 point home betting favorite and that seem's quite low.

Vanderbilt vs #9 Kentucky Vanderbilt Commodores (16-13, 9-7) at #9 Kentucky Wildcats (24-5, 14-2)

From a Commodores perspective, if they're to have an post-season aspirations, it could start here with a huge upset of Kentucky, but it doesn't seem likely. That said, Vandy has won 4 games in a row including a win over a top 25 team in South Carolina. Vanderbilt had also played Kentucky tough in their previous matchup in an 87-81 loss. They know the goal and everything has to fall right as they have plenty of incentive in appraoching this game.

One and Done Club

As for the "One and Done Club" as in NBA, the Kentucky Wildcats haven't been the best team in college basketball and most of these players will move on to the NBA, but this is a team with quality wins over South Carolina, Florida, and North Carolina. With all of their talent, Kentucky must not take the Commodores lightly.

I expect Kentucky to attempt to put Vandy away early and break their spirit. This is a team that know's how to score (87.8 points per game) and is also a solid rebounding club (40.8 rebounds). Lot's of energy and lot's of talent defines this crop of recruits that Coach John Calipari has brought to Kentucky.

"NBA Ready"

Keep your eyes on freshman Malik Monk because we will see him in an NBA uniform next season. Monk has been the leader on this squad all season long and has really come on strong as of late.

Against a very good Florida squad, Monk finished with 33 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds on 5 of 7 shooting from beyond the arc. For the season, Monk is averaging 21.5 points per game on 41.9% from 3-point land. This is a fantastic two-way player that's only going to get better. At the present moment, he's still far superior to anything that Vanderbilt has to offer. Look for Monk to build off of his last performance, but I do expect Vanderbilt to put up a fight.
