There will be plenty support for “bubble dog” Kansas St. who, at 19-12 SU, 8-10 SU in Big 12 play, is considered to have a shot at the NCAA, if they beat Baylor today. But, the current form of these Wildcats leaves much to be desired. Yes, they defeated lower echelon TCU and TTRR to close the season. But, since a 14-4 SU, 10-4 ATS start to the season climaxed with consecutive victories over Oklahoma St. and WVU, this team has limped to the finish line at 5-8 SU ATS. Among the highlights of their 2nd half of the season was an upset of these Baylor Bears (56-64). That was one of only 2 home losses in the season for Baylor (the other to Kansas). It came when they were suffering an emotional downer after losing to league leader Kansas just 3 days earlier. Fundamentally, this is a strong matchup. The Baylor strength is on the interior with an 8.3 net rebound margin and with a defense that allows just 63/39/31. Those are both advantages they will exploit against a Kansas St. team, who does not have a defensive strength (and has a negative rebound margin) to expose the Bears’ weakness on the perimeter. Once the Wildcats become resigned to the fact they will not win this game in the late going, it will be no surprise to see them “let go of the rope” and tumble into the abyss of a double digit loss. #CBKB, #CCTS, #BASKETBALL
