As with most pointspreads, the line in this game is still impacted by the early season performance of each team. But, the way in which each of these Big East foes is currently playing is far dichotomous to that early season form. With 4 returning starters, led by PG Watson (the country’s assist leader at 8.5 APG), the Blue Jays soared to an 18-1 SU, 14-3 ATS start, including 5-1 SU ATS in Big East play. That included a 78-64 win at Providence on January 7th. With the season-ending injury to Watson in mid-January, the Blue Jay fortunes spiraled downward. In fact, after that torrid beginning, Creighton enters today on slides of 5-7 SU, 4-8 ATS. There’s no way they should be installed as the favorite in this contest, despite the fact that each team enters with a record of 10-8 SU in Big East play. For, it is Providence who had surged at just about the time the fortunes of Creighton were taking a turn for the worse. Following a mediocre 11-7 SU, 9-9 ATS beginning, Providence enters today on a run of 9-4 SU, 10-2 ATS. That includes a payback at Creighton on February 22nd, when they handed the Jays a rare home loss (68-66) as 8 point dog. Under 6th year HC Cooley, the Friars have often been a righteous underdog. Never has that been more true than this season, when in Big East play the Friars have won no fewer than 8 games outright as underdog. Take the better team as underdog in what will only be an upset to those who have not read this analysis. #CBKB, #CCTS, #BASKETBALL
