Unless I am looking at something wrong, this may be the easiest pick of the day. Usually that’s a warning sign for me, but let’s break it down.

  UTSA vs Western Kentucky

The Conference USA tournament begins with UTSA taking on Western Kentucky in the first round, with the Hilltoppers placed as an initial 4-point favorite. UTSA has been awful on the road this year, and with this game being on a neutral site, I’ll consider that the same with their 2-15 record applying here. Western Kentucky isn’t that much better, going 4-13 on the road on the year as well. But Western Kentucky can shoot the basketball on the road, and UTSA basically cannot.

The Roadrunners shoot a putrid 38.1% from the floor away from home, and are also a terrible 24.3% from behind the arc. Compare that to Western Kentucky, who doesn’t exactly light the world on fire, but still shoots 43.1% from the floor and 34.1% from behind the arc on the road. Add to this a 15-point win by WKU over UTSA just over a month ago and I like Western Kentucky in this game big time. I’d feel better if I wasn’t so sure about it, but I’m still taking the Hilltoppers at -4 at Heritage as another Wednesday college basketball pick.
