The No. 6 USC Trojans were this close to missing out on March Madness. Could they possibly beat the NCAAB odds and the No. 1 UCLA Bruins in Thursday’s Pac-12 second-rounder?

  USC Trojans vs UCLA Bruins

So... why were the No. 6 USC Trojans in the Top 25 again? They may have looked good during non-conference play, but the Trojans nearly fell on their swords in Wednesday’s first-round Pac-12 Tournament win over the Washington Huskies. But win they did, 78-73 as 12.5-point favorites on the closing line, and once again, at least we had USC at a good price here at the ranch.

Next up for the Trojan Men: None other than the No. 3 UCLA Bruins. They’ll get the ESPN treatment when they tip off at 11:30 p.m. Eastern, which is nice. These crosstown rivals split their regular-season series home and away, and neither the Trojans (24-8 SU, 15-16 ATS) nor the Bruins (28-3 SU, 16-15 ATS) have made much impression on the NCAA basketball odds this year, fade or follow, so pick your poison.

Totals? Well, those are a bit problematic, too. With Wednesday’s game going UNDER 153, the Trojans have the over/under all knotted up at 15-15. And UCLA isn’t doing us any favors either, with the UNDER just slightly ahead at 15-14 on the season. They even split their regular-season games down the middle. But we’ll go ahead and recommend the Bruins for your NCAA Basketball picks. They’re rested, and like I said, USC was stinky awful against Washington.
