The USC Trojans started off the season like gangbusters until they reached inter-conference play. Now, 7 losses later, the Trojans looked to get prepared for the Pac 12 Tournament and what better way than a matchup against a much inferior Arizona State squad? This is an opportunity for the Trojans to pad their record as they're coming off of 3 consecutive losses against AP Top 25 squads.

USC vs Arizona State

A Loss of Confidence?

I don't think so. While the Trojans do hold a victory over UCLA this season, they're just not in the same category as elite teams such as UCLA, Oregon, and Arizona and we saw that in their last 3 games.

The NCAA Committee frowns upon teams with poor conference records and at 8-7 in the Pac-12, USC can ill-afford to lose this game and finish the regular season at .500. Look for USC to come out strong and as a 3.5 point betting favorite, the odds appear favorable despite their recent losing streak.

Chimezie Metu

This is a player that's certainly picked up the level of his game in his sophomore campaign as Metu is averaging 14.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. He possess great size and is a nuisance in the paint for the opposition as his 1.5 blocks per game indicates. Metu is also coming off of a strong double -double against a top rate Arizona team in a 90-77 loss to the Wildcats. The level of opposition drops here and I expect Metu to drop the heavy hammer on the vulnerable Sun Devils.

These two teams have squared off before as USC won 82-79, but look for the Trojans to show a bit more urgency in this game while Torian Graham (18.8 ppg) and Tra Holder (16.8 ppg.) have been great offensively, but not enough for the Sun Devils to win on a consistent basis. USC is the play in this matchup.
