Georgia Tech is the small home favorite but will Houston bounce back from one of their worst games of the year? Let's check the NCAA basketball odds for our sharp pick.

NCAA basketball odds experts have come out making Houston a +3.5 underdog like at 5 Dimes -110. For one of my NCAA basketball picks today I'm going to take the Cougars plus the points to keep this game interesting and take it to the wire. Don't be surprised if they find a way to pull the upset.

Houston Cougars
Houston finished third in the American Conference, have won seven of their last 10 games, and rank 24th in the country averaging 28.1 field goals made per game. With four starters back this team had high hopes coming into the season and they had a tremendous year compared to last season. This is a real good basketball team that plays good defense and can score. Their upset loss to Tulane is not something I'm very concerned about as I think head coach Kelvin Sampson will have them ready to go as a get to take on an ACC team. Defensively they rank as one of the better teams in their league and rank fifth in the country allowing opponents to only shoot 29.8% from beyond the arc. Being able to defend from distance might not be crucial tonight against the Georgia Tech team that doesn't shoot from beyond the arc often, but they do shoot 35% when they put it up. This a balanced team that should matchup very well with the Yellow Jackets.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Georgia Tech has also won 7 of their last 10 games and allows opponents only 31.8 rebounds per game which ranks 27th in the country. Georgia Tech is really similar to Houston in that they defend from beyond the arc really well allowing opponents to shoot only 32% from distance and only 5.8 three-pointers made per game. However, just like when they are on offense Houston does not average a lot of three-point attempts per game shooting 35.2% from beyond the arc. The issue tonight where I think Houston has a slight advantage is around the paint and inside where the Cougars shoot 52.2% while Georgia Tech allows opponents to shoot 49.7% which ranks in the bottom half of all NCAA teams. Offensively Georgia Tech is been subpar and defensively they have not been very good. Of course a lot of this has to do with the fact they are in the ACC. As far as common opponents the only team they have both played is the same Tulane team that shocked Houston. Still, I'm willing to let the Cougars slide on that one game and look at the other two times where they beat Tulane by 13 and 18  points while Georgia Tech beat the Green Wave by eight back in December.
