For Thanksgiving NCAA basketball matchup we head to Portland, Oregon where the Oklahoma Sooners take on the Arkansas Razorbacks. Oddsmakers have come out with a really tight line for this game making the Sooners a small favorite. This is an interesting matchup with two veteran coaches, so which team comes out on top?

Arkansas Razorbacks vs Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma should be on a bounce-back year with a decent veteran core under head coach Lon Kruger. So far they have had little trouble on the season handling Ball State and Nebraska Omaha, but this matchup, of course, will be much different and oddsmakers have them at a small -1.5 favorite. For my, NCAA pick though I’m going to go against Oklahoma and take Arkansas to win this game straight up.

Oklahoma returns seven players that started games last season, as well as most of their scoring from a team that really struggled. Last season they shot the ball at a miserable 42.3%, and their scoring defense ranked 222 out of all teams nationally. This team so far looks much different and should pick up an upset or two in the big 12 this season. That being said though I don’t like how they matchup with Arkansas as this Razorback team can really get up and down the floor, and I’m not quite sure that Oklahoma is ready. Although they do return a lot of guys this is still a really young team and I think they will struggle tonight.

Like Oklahoma, Arkansas has started the season with little trouble beating Fresno State, Bucknell, and Samford. I’ve always like Mike Anderson and the style he brings to college basketball. He has a very interesting combination of veterans and newcomers to his team and they should be able to score tonight against an Oklahoma defense that is probably a little bit suspect. Last year the Razorbacks shot 46% from the floor and Anderson is pretty high on this team considering they have several seniors on board. I really think oddsmakers don’t have this one correct as this team is very tough on both ends offensively and defensively. Possibly the line is favored to Oklahoma because of their blowout wins, but this Arkansas team is a much different monster and has a very good chance to win this game straight up.
