With college football over, more attention can be paid to this intriguing college basketball season. Let's start with a couple of underdogs for our NCAAB picks as Michigan hosts Purdue, and Texas A&M visits Kentucky.

Tuesday College Basketball: Purdue vs. Michigan

Free NCAAB Pick: Michigan +1.5Best Line Offered: Pinnacle

Last season Michigan swept the two-game series, but this season Purdue seems to be on a different level. Oddsmakers came out making Purdue a small -1.5 favorite on the road, but in my NCAAB picks I will take Michigan plus the points.

Michigan remains a very good team and very tough to beat at home. The Wolverines are shooting respectable 47.7 percent the floor and allowing just 22.6 field goals made per game, ranking 51st and 29th in the country, respectively. Purdue also has great statistics on both sides the ball, ranking eighth in shooting efficiency and third in opponent shooting efficiency.

Surprisingly, Purdue has relied on its defense this year to pick up wins, but because of the tempo they allow I think they will find things problematic against a very efficient Michigan team. Purdue is allowing opponents to get up 62 attempts per game, which ranks them outside the top 300 teams. I believe the Wolverines have a very good chance to win this game straight up.

Free NCAAB Pick: Texas A&M +6Best Line Offered: Heritage

Texas A&M really struggled this past week with suspensions and injuries, and dropped their last three contest to Alabama, Florida, and LSU, with two of those at home. Despite their struggles, the NCAAB odds boards have them just a +6 underdog in this spot, and for my NCAA pick I will back them as they should give Kentucky all they want.

The Wildcats are coming off a tough loss at Tennessee but I don’t particularly like how they match up with a Texas A&M team that is much better than its recent three-game slide. The Aggies have defended as well as anyone in the country this season, allowing opponents to shoot just 38 percent and ranking seventh in the country in opponent shooting efficiency. On the other side they have been efficient shooting the ball at a respectable 46 percent clip, and more importantly I expect them to come into this game healthy with everybody ready to play.

Kentucky, of course, is very talented and will only continue to improve on both sides of the ball, but look for this game to go to the wire.
