Texas Tech is getting points at West Virginia, while Georgetown is a small underdog at home Marquette. Is there value in backing the dogs with your college hoops picks?

Sixth-ranked Texas Tech is coming off a heartbreaking loss to Kansas, so this could be a tough spot for them to rebound and play well at No. 21 West Virginia. The host Mountaineers are -7 favorites on the college basketball odds board, but with my NCAAB picks I will take the points with a good Texas Tech team. Texas Tech slid by West Virginia 72-71 in mid-January at home. Although West Virginia plays better at home, these teams match up pretty well and I like for the Red Raiders to take this game to the wire. Although West Virginia has better home numbers compared to Texas Tech's away numbers on the offensive end, defensively this should be a real grind for both teams. West Virginia is allowing opponents to shoot just 41.4 percent, but that is surpassed by Texas Tech allowing opponents to shoot just 39.9 percent and a very good 32.1 percent from distance. This should be a defensive battle from tip to buzzer.

Earlier in the season Marquette handled business at home, beating Georgetown 74-65. Neither team has performed as well as they probably would’ve liked this season, and in this matchup Marquette is a small -1 favorite on the college basketball odds board. With my NCAAB picks I will take Georgetown to win this game straight up because they are much better on the defensive end compared to Marquette. Statistically speaking, Marquette has been really solid on the road, shooting 47.8 percent on the season and a stunning 40.9 percent from distance. Georgetown has decent home numbers, hitting at a 46.4- and 35.6-percent clip, respectively, in those categories. This game will come down to the defenses, and Georgetown is definitely the better defensive team. The Hoyas have allowed opponents to shoot just 42.8 percent overall and 32.5 percent from distance, numbers that improve at home. This is where Marquette lacks as they allow opponents to shoot 47.7 percent and 34.8 percent from distance. I believe with them traveling, this will be tough for them to win this game, especially with Georgetown looking for revenge.
