Underdog Betting Values: Top NCAA Basketball Picks For Tuesday

Our analyst shares his top two underdog picks on Tuesday’s card. He’s been a stellar 13-7 (65%) with his NCAA basketball underdog picks over the past nine betting days.

Wake Forest vs. North Carolina State 12:00 PM ET
Despite a 2-16 ACC record, Wake Forest has gone a very profitable 10-5 ATS this season in away and neutral site games. One of those two ACC wins came over today’s opponent (NC State). The Demon Deacons also have some decent non-conference wins over #10 Indiana, UCLA, Arkansas, and LSU. All four of those teams will in all likelihood be participating in the NCAA, NIT, CIT, or CBI upon conclusion of their conference tournaments. Wake Forest has played very well on the defensive end during its last five games, holding opponents to just 39.5% shooting, and allowing them to convert on only 29.1% of their three point attempts. They’ve also scored 71 points and shot 45% or better or more in five of their previous six games.

North Carolina State went a very disappointing 5-13 in ACC action this season. The Wolfpack were terrible defensively in the final stretch of regular season play. During its last five contests, they allowed 78.0 points per game, and opponents shot 47.4% from the floor.

Neither of these teams is going to advance beyond the next round of the ACC Tournament. However, somebody has to cover in this contest, and the value for me is with the underdog. One of my Tuesday NCAA basketball picks will be indicative of that previous statement.

Farleigh Dickinson vs. Wagner 7:00 PM ET
Farleigh Dickinson enters this Northeast Conference Championship game with plenty of momentum having won its last four games in a row. Unlike most conferences that play their postseason tournaments at a neutral site, that’s not the case today. FDU will have to knock off Wagner on their home floor in hopes of reaching the NCAA Tournament. On a positive not for FDU, they already captured a 3 point win at Wagner earlier this season, and that will go a long way for their confidence level heading into today.

Besides winning their last four, FDU has gone 15-8 over its last 23 games which followed a poor 2-6 start to the season. They’ll be facing a Wagner team that has allowed an average of only 62.5 points per game in conference play, and held its opponents to just 39.5% shooting. However, in the two regular season meetings between these teams, FDU has averaged a sizable 78.0 points scored per game, and went 17-39 (43.6%) on their three point attempts. Needless to say, they’ve displayed the ability to expose an otherwise stingy defensive team.

Current NCAA basketball odds provide me with the most favorable combination of number and price for this wager.
