It's somewhat rare to find a pick'em on NCAA basketball odds in a showdown of ranked teams but that's what we have Tuesday night. Here are my top three NCAA basketball picks.

Auburn vs. Tennessee (-10.5 On NCAA Basketball Odds)
It will be interesting to see how Auburn coach Bruce Pearl will be welcomed in Knoxville. Of course he coached Tennessee with quite a bit of success from 2005-11 but was canned in the wake of some NCAA violations. The fans in Knoxville gave Pearl a pretty warm welcome last year in his first time back as Auburn's coach. There's significant player news for the Tigers (9-13, 3-7 SEC) here as leading scorer Kareem Canty remains suspended indefinitely by Pearl for conduct detrimental to the team and won't play. Pearl wouldn't say if Canty would return this season. He leads Auburn in averaging 18.3 points and 5.3 assists per game, which are fifth and third in the SEC, respectively. Pearl also had to suspend probably the team's second-best player, senior forward Cinmeon Bowers, for the same reason on Jan. 30 against Oklahoma State. Bowers actually started in Canty's place at point guard for Saturday's 65-55 loss at Georgia despite the fact he's 6-foot-7, 250 pounds. Bowers had 12 points, 13 rebounds and one assist as the Tigers dropped their fifth in a row. Freshman guard Bryce Brown moved into the starting lineup and was just 2-for-11 from the field. Auburn shot only 25.9 percent overall. Tennessee (11-12, 4-6 SEC) lost at Arkansas on Saturday, 85-67. Kevin Punter had 24 points in defeat. He's second in the SEC in scoring at 23.2 ppg. UT's eight-game winning streak vs. Auburn was snapped on Jan. 2, 83-77. Canty had 20 points. The NCAA basketball odds have Tennessee as the favorite, and that's the route we're taking for our NCAA basketball picks.

Auburn is 1-6 ATS in its past seven road games. The Vols are 10-1 ATS in the past 11 meetings at home.

No. 10 West Virginia No. 6 vs. Kansas (-7 In NCAA Betting)
It's the only Top-10 matchup of the night. West Virginia (19-4, 8-2) has a half-game lead over Oklahoma for first place in the Big 12. Kansas (19-4, 7-3) is a game back. This is the 16th time in West Virginia history that both teams are in the Top 10 for a game. WVU moved up four spots in the AP poll on Monday following impressive wins over ranked Iowa State (in Ames) and Baylor last week. Mountaineers forward Jonathan Holton sat out his third straight game Saturday. He's suspended for an undisclosed violation of team rules. Holton, a senior, averages 9.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Coach Bob Huggins said he wasn't sure when he would allow Holton back. It's the start of a tough week for KU as it visits No. 3 Oklahoma on Saturday. The Jayhawks won two games easily last week and have won 36 straight at home, the fourth-longest home winning streak in school history. Coach Bill Self has more Big 12 titles with 11 than home losses, nine, in his career at KU. The Jayhawks lost at West Virginia 74-63 on Jan. 12. Kansas was the No. 1 team in the nation then. The Mountaineers got some home cooking from the refs as they went to the line 47 times and made 33. KU was 13-for-21 from the charity stripe. KU is 3-0 all-time vs. WVU at Allen Fieldhouse.

The Jayhawks are 8-2 ATS in their past 10 following an ATS win. The home team is 6-1 ATS in the past seven meetings.

No. 8 Michigan State vs. No. 18 Purdue (Pick'em For NCAA Basketball Picks)
The good news for the Spartans (20-4, 7-5 Big Ten) is they have won four straight in very impressive fashion since a three-game losing streak. The bad is that point guard Tum Tum Nairn, who hasn't played since Jan. 14, has now been ruled out another month with his foot problem. So you are potentially talking about the Big Ten Tournament or even NCAA Tournament that he could miss. Nairn started the first 18 games of the season and averaged 24.1 minutes per game. Coach Tom Izzo has admitted it's unlikely Nairn would return to that role if he does get back. MSU doesn't need him much as Denzel Valentine is often running the show from the point and is averaging 19.8 points, 9.0 rebounds and 7.3 assists during the four-game winning streak. Purdue (19-5, 7-4) had a two-game winning streak snapped with a 72-61 loss at No. 4 Maryland on Saturday. The Boilers are now 0-3 vs. ranked teams this season. With an average height of 6-foot-6, Purdue is the 12th-tallest team in college basketball. Purdue has won the rebounding battle in every game this season but one. MSU is the nation's best rebounding team despite not having near the size of the Boilermakers. Sparty has won seven straight vs. Purdue.

The Boilers are 1-4 ATS in their past five games. MSU is 4-0 ATS in its past four. The Spartans are 4-0 ATS in their past four at Purdue.
