Oklahoma vs. Kansas (-6) 9:00 ET ESPN
There is little doubt that this year’s PAC 12 Conference is the best league from top to bottom. Yesterday’s outright wins by Washington St. over UCLA, Oregon St. over Oregon and Washington over USC (from 22 down) confirmed that point. But, if you are looking for the league with the most strength at the top, look no further than the Big 12 whose members Kansas, Oklahoma, WVU and Iowa St. all have Top 20 ratings in the respected Sagarin Rankings. It is the first of those 2 teams, ranked Nos. 1 and 2 in the nation, that take the court tonight at venerable Allen Field House, when Oklahoma and Kansas meet in this Marquee Matchup on ESPN. Tipoff is 9:00 ET!

Kansas Jayhawks
The Kansas Jayhawks are trying for their 12th consecutive Big 12 regular season title this season. That will leave them just 1 shy of the 13 consecutive conference titles recorded by UCLA over 40 years ago. As a testament to the depth of the Big 12, consider that the Jayhawks won the title last year with just a 3-5 SU record in Big 12 road games. That’s a strong indication that Kansas still knows how to “rock, chalk, Jayhawk” on the strong home boards of Allen FH. KU enters tonight on a 52-2 SU run on this court, including 7 consecutive victories this season. The pointspread record at home is commensurate with their SU success with a mark of 35-19 ATS to -12. But, it says in this analysis that the phog will not lift until very late in the game (if, at all), when the best 2 teams in America face off tonight. The Jayhawks are outstanding in the backcourt, led by the perimeter power of Mason and Selden. Up front, the interior is manned by veteran senior, Perry Ellis and newcomer, Cheick Diallo, who has resolved his eligibility issues and has already begun to play like the Top 10 recruit that he was advertised to be. Many handicappers across the nation lined up with Baylor triple revenge on this court against Kansas on Saturday. But, that didn’t work too well for them, as the Jayhawks romped wire-to-wire (102-74) against a quality BU team.

Oklahoma Sooner
Further south and later in the evening, Oklahoma would have a much tougher time of it with Iowa St., the No. 4 team in the league, even without Naz Long. But, the Sooners maintained their undefeated record with a late rally that resulted in an 87-83 victory and brings them to Kansas with an undefeated record. Aside from that notable victory Saturday night, the Sooners have beaten Top Tier Villanova by a score of (78-55) in early December. Oklahoma is led by 5th year HC Kruger, who has now taken these Sooners, along with his teams at Florida, UNLV and Illinois, to the Big Dance. This, however, may be one of his best teams in his long and storied coaching career. In fact, it could be argued that Kruger has been pointing for this season since he was hired at OU. The Sooners counter the KU strength in the backcourt with a trio of outstanding guards in Woodard, Cousins and Hield. The latter is a primetime player who will prove his mettle in crunch time. The interior is anchored by Ryan Spangler, a 3-sport high school star, who has been a dream for Kruger in his 4 seasons. Matching the strong record of Kansas HC Self on this court is the fact that Kruger is the best road coach in America with a long-term 90-63 ATS record.

What's The Pick?
These two split a pair of games last season with the games decided by a total of 9 points. Tonight, I believe Oklahoma proves they are the better team. It would not be surprising if they win the game outright. I invite you to put the NCAA basketball odds in your favor and join me with my NCAA basketball pick on Oklahoma.
