Renowned sports handicapping professional Ross Benjamin shares 3 college basketball underdog picks on Saturday night’s card. Go inside to find out what those selections are, and why he’s chosen to wager on them.

Kansas vs Texas

6:00 PM ET

Kansas defeated Texas in Lawrence earlier this season 79-67, and failed to cover as a 16.5-point favorite. The Jayhawks are 7-1 during their last 8 games. However, 7 of their last 8 contests have been decided by 6-points or less, and that includes each of its previous 5 wins coming by 5-points or fewer. Furthermore, Kansas is coming off a home win over TCU on Thursday night, and that victory clinched their 13th consecutive Big 12 regular season title. It would be difficult to imagine Kansas not having some degree of mental letdown, and especially so on the road just 2 days later against 9th place Texas.

It’s been an uncharacteristic bad season for Texas, evidenced by their dismal 10-18 overall record, and that includes 4-11 in conference play. On a positive note, all 10 of their wins have come at home. Although the Longhorns are just 3-4 in Austin against Big 12 opponents, 3 of those 4 losses have come by 3-points or less.

I look for this game to be much closer than most would predict. For that reason, I’m going with the home underdog as one of my college basketball predictions.

Northwestern vs Indiana

8:00 PM ET

Indiana has come totally unglued of late. The Hoosiers are 1-7 during their last 8 contests, and it includes a current 5-game losing streak. Their only win during that sequence came at home against Penn State, and they needed overtime to do so.

Northwestern is on the cusp of securing their first-ever NCAA Tournament bid. Although they’ve struggled a bit recently, they’re more than capable of leaving Bloomington with a win. The Wildcats easily defeated Indiana by a convincing 13-point margin earlier this season. They held a very good shooting Indiana team to a paltry 32.1% from the field in that win.

Alabama vs Texas A&M

8:00 PM ET

Texas A&M hasn’t exactly been a good bet at home lately, evidenced by the Aggies going 1-4 during their previous 5 games played in College Station.  As a matter of fact, Texas A&M is only 4-7 ATS at home this season, and lost straight up on 4 separate occasions.

This young Alabama team has quietly put together a nice season, and will enter Saturday’s game with a more than respectable 9-6 conference record. What’s intriguing is they’ve been better on the road than at home during Big 12 action. The Crimson Tide has gone just 4-4 in Tuscaloosa compared an impressive 5-2 during away games. Alabama is coming off a disappointing 5-point home loss to Georgia on Thursday. Nonetheless, Alabama is 4-0 this season in conference road games following a loss in their previous game.
