2015-16 NCAAB Record: 11-4, +6.60 Units

With a huge slate of college basketball games on Saturday, there are plenty of options to choose from, not to mention the start of bowl season on the football side. The following are games that are getting my attention for totals and may be worth switching the channel from football to watch.

Ohio State Buckeyes vs. UCLA Bruins

The Bruins’ offense is simply incredible right now, with six players averaging double digits scoring per game and the team putting up an average of 97.9 points per game. UCLA has scored more than 97 points in 8 of their 11 games so far this year, including in games against Kentucky and Michigan. Here they will match up with Ohio State, who has only allowed one team to score more than 70 points all season.

What I like here about the prospect of the Over is that this is a neutral site game, and Ohio State has shown a trend to go Over in those games to the tune of 35-17-1 in their last 53. UCLA has been known to score against non-conference foes too, going 7-3-1 in their last 11 tries. With this being the first match up in basketball between these schools, look for the offense to have the upper hand and take Over 160.5 at BookMaker.

Citadel Bulldogs vs Virginia Tech Hokies

The average combined score for a Citadel game this season is 204.5. They are first in the nation in points scored at 105.3 per game and use a 9-deep rotation to press the pace. First-year coach, Duggar Baucom, brought the high pace of play over from the VMI Keydets, so a lot of past trends for Citadel can be thrown out the window. They basically try to run you into the ground.

Virginia Tech played VMI quote often in Baucom’s tenure there, though, and Virginia Tech was able to stymie the style of play he represented more often that not. Only once in over a decade was Baucom able to press the pace and get into a track meet that would have exceeded this listed total. I’ll take that track record of opposing coaching styles and grab the Under here of 191.5 at BookMaker.

Robert Morris Colonials vs Virginia Cavaliers

Well, this game doesn’t look fair, now does it. The Colonials find themselves as 29-point road underdogs to a team that only gives up an average of 47.3 points per game at home. This would make the Colonials team total in the mid-40’s, and they will be hard pressed to get there. Robert Morris already went up against a major conference opponent this year in Kansas State, a game that ended up 61-40 for the Wildcats as an unlined game.

Robert Morris also already plays slow, averaging 56 attempts per game. Virginia will be able to play their game here and will be able to focus on slowing down each possession. This game may not break 100, so take the Under of 114.5 as one of your Saturday college basketball picks.
