We've looked at tonight's slate of NCAA Basketball odds & found a couple of good 'over/under' picks for bettors to focus on. Here are the details for San Diego State/Boise State & Clemson/Miami Fl.
San Diego State is a Walking Under
Anytime that the Aztecs are involved in a matchup, you can expect the NCAA Baskeball odds makers to create a low betting total and the game usually follows suit and is low scoring. In this game, we have another low total at 123. Boise State could make things difficult for the bettors expecting an under as they've gotten hot at the right time, winning 6 consecutive games and playing relatively well on the offensive end.
"On the Mark"
The Broncos are an extremely deep team with one go to guy (due to injuries) and that player is Derrick Marks out of Chicago. If any of you remember a former NBA player by the name of Hersey Hawkins, Marks is quite similar.
He has the NBA body and can shoot the basketball quite impressively. For the season, Marks leads the Broncos at 19.8 points per game to go along with 3 rebounds and 3 assists per game. Marks is shooting a sizzling 54.7% from 3-point range this season and is 14 out of his last 21 from beyond the arc. Even a top-level defense such as the one that the Aztecs possess, will have a problem with this sharpshooter.
There is no secret in San Diego State's game and that's playing well on the defensive end. The Aztecs average 62.6 points per game on 41.4 % from the field. In order for them to win this game must be a low scoring affair.
The Aztecs have won their last 3 games and have held opponents to an average of 50.7 points per game. You will be hard-pressed to find an Aztec that can shoot the ball well with consistency, but J.J. O'Brien is coming off an 18 point performance against Nevada and is a fairly reliable shooter. We could see more of O'Brien in this game than we've seen in the past.
I think that Boise State carries enough offense, especially with Derrick Marks, to make this game go over the total.

Clemson (14-8, 6-4) vs. Miami (FL) (14-8, 4-5) - total 120.5
Can't Put the Rock in the Ocean
The San Diego Aztecs would fit in well with these two teams as they all are challenged when it comes to scoring and we see another very low betting total. Aside from the betting total, these teams can ill-afford a loss as the post-season draws nearer. In order for one of these teams to make it to the Big Dance, they would need to make a major run in the ACC Conference tournament and that doesn't seem likely with North Carolina and Duke lurking. For now, the objective is to win the game and move to the next.
The Clemson Tigers, who average 63 points per game on 41.3% shooting from the field, are on a 4 game winning streak in which they've held their opponents to an average of 55 points per game during that period of time. Clemson features the game of leading scorer, Jaron Blossomgame. Blossomgame leads the Tigers at 13.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game, but like most of the rest of his teammates, is unable to be efficient at shooting the 3-ball.
Nonetheless, Blossomgame is coming off of back to back solid performances against Florida State and Boston College and will definitely be a factor in this game.
The "U" is a very complex team. They've lost their last 3 games, but have some very impressive wins attached to their resume with wins over Florida, Illinois, and Syracuse.
If Miami can get on a run, they could have a chance at a post-season berth, but they'll need some assistance from their offense. Leading scorers Sheldan McClellan and Angel Rodriguez, have been virtually non-existent in the Canes last few games. When deciding on NCAA Basketball picks, I'm really not sure that they can turn it around tonight, but look for Tonye Jekiri to play well as he's averaged a near double-double all season and possession of the ball will be important in what I think will be a low scoring game.
