We have a full slate of college basketball action this Saturday. While there are a lot of very interesting matchups, I’ve taken a look at the card and love the following plays for my totals picks.

2015-16 NCAAB Record: 16-12, +2.80 Units

St. Mary’s vs Gonzaga

This pick is a bit of a contradiction with the series trends that exist between these two teams. You see, the Under is 9-1 in the last ten match ups between St. Mary’s and Gonzaga. The Gaels play excellent defense too, holding opponents to just over 50 points on the road. This will be the best offense they see all year though, as Gonzaga frequently hits the 90’s in scoring.

But my pick in taking the Over is because I predict a lack of intensity on the defensive side of the ball for Gonzaga. The students are on winter break at the campus next door to me, and if you saw the last game the Zags played against LMU you would understand that the intensity of playing in that building disappears without the students involved. St. Mary’s should have no problem running their methodical offense on Saturday night, which along with Gonzaga’s usual offensive prowess, should put this game over the listed total of 133.5 at BookMaker. All three games played over winter break at Gonzaga have gone Over.

Duke vs Louisville

Louisville was on my list of top 5 Under plays this year, and this game is no different. Hosting the Duke Blue Devils at home should have the Cardinals excellent home defense playing at full tilt. You don’t have to go back very far to see how this usually plays out if you take Louisville’s 71-64 home win over Duke last year into consideration. Both of these defense give up totals in the low 60’s, so it would take a lapse by both teams to get this over the listed total of 145.5. I see a measured pace in this game, and for Louisville’s 8-1 Under trend at home to continue. Duke is also 3-5 O-U on the road as well.

Washington vs Stanford

Stanford is slowly starting to adjust to not having their lead scorer, Reid Travis, in the lineup, but that won’t help them reach this lofty total put up for Saturday’s game against the Huskies. The Huskies are struggling on offense as well, cashing 4 out of 5 Unders coming into this game. The Under is also 6-1 in the last seven games in this series in games at Palo Alto.

I’m a firm believer that the home team has an easier time dictating pace, and that also favors the Under in this spot. Stanford games at home average a total of 142.6 points, so Washington would have press to get another 12-14 possessions to possibly take this game over the total. Take under 156.5 points in this game at BookMaker as one of your Saturday college basketball picks.
