When finalizing your college basketball picks for Friday night, you need to feel confident. Maybe our breakdown of tonight's showdown between Akron and Toledo will help you on your way.

Odds Overview
The Rockets may have the worse record of the two teams, but they're at home and favored by six points on the college basketball betting odds board. A total had yet to be released at time of this writing, so make sure you check back with Sportsbook Review's NCAA basketball odds monitoring service to see if there's any value when the number's made public.

Toledo Rockets
Since a poor start that saw them go 2-4 through their first six games, the Rockets have responded by going 6-2 over their previous eight contests. They're now at 8-6 overall on the year. Toledo has faced off against two ranked teams thus far, losing to then-ranked #15 VCU by nine and then getting beaten up by #2 Duke in a 86-69 loss in late December.

More pressing though is a recent loss to Central Michigan, one that came on the Rockets' home court no less. It was a rough showing from Toledo, who shot an even 40.0 percent from the floor while turning the ball over 13 times, nine more than Central Michigan, who only gave it away on four occasions. It was a sloppy game from the Rockets, and you better believe they'll be itching to get back on the court and make amends.

Julius Brown, J.D. Weatherspoon, Justin Drummond and Jonathan Williams are all averaging in double figures for Toledo this season, giving the team a nice core to rely on game in and game out. Brown has been lethal shooting the ball, putting up a team-best 14.9 points per contest while connecting on 47.8 percent overall, 46.7 percent from beyond the arc, and 87.0 percent from the line. The senior will look to make a big-time impact here tonight against the Zips.

Akron vs. Toledo is One of Our NCAA Basketball Picks for Today

Akron Zips
Like a lot of teams, the Zips have hit some speedbumps here and there this season, but they've been solid for the most part. They'll take a 10-4 overall record into tonight's road game.

Akron has recorded four consecutive wins more recently, having overcome the likes of Bluffton College (who?), Marshall, Coppin State and Western Michigan. As you can see, the Zips haven't been dealing with the most prolific teams out there, so we'll have to see if they're prepared for what's sure to be a much tougher test at Akron tonight.

Whereas Toledo relies on four or so players for most of their scoring, Akron only has one player average in double figures, with nine different guys who are averaging at least 13 minutes of action per game. They''re not afraid to go deep into their bench, so needless to say it's going to be interesting to see how the contrasting styles match up inside Savage Arena. For what it's worth, junior center Pat Forsythe leads the way with averages of 10.5 PPG and 5.6 RPG.

NCAA Basketball Pick
We believe this sets up as an appealing situation for the Rockets. Even though the Zips are the hotter team, having won four straight, they still find themselves as significant underdogs, which makes us think oddsmakers know this is a great spot for Toledo.

The Rockets' three leading scorers are all seniors, so this is a team that has the experience necessary to respond after adversity (a bad home loss to Central Michigan) and right the ship against a much better opponent in Akron. We expect Toledo to rise up the increase in competition this evening. We haven't been very impressed with the strength of schedule that the Zips have dealt with either.

With that in mind, we like the Rockets to win by at least six points and therefore will be adding them to our NCAA basketball picks for this slow Friday night of college hoops.
