Does Wednesday’s Baylor at Oklahoma State Big 12 matchup look to be too tough of a call? Well, read this betting preview by SBR contributor Ross Benjamin to ease the burden as he provides the winning side.

Baylor Bears At Oklahoma State Cowboys

No. 6 Baylor (20-3, 7-3 Big 12) goes on the road to take on red-hot Oklahoma State (15-8, 4-6 Big 12). This will be the second meeting of the season between these Big 12 rivals. Baylor came away with a 61-57 home win over Oklahoma State on Jan. 7. However, the Bears failed to cover as sizable 12.5-point favorites. At the time of this writing, NCAA basketball betting odds across the board have Oklahoma State as a 1.5-point favorite for Wednesday.

Recently Tamed Bears

After getting off to an excellent 20-1 start, Baylor has dropped each of their last 2 games against conference rivals Kansas and Kansas State. The Bears have struggled offensively in their previous 5 appearances overall. During that time frame, Baylor averaged just 65.4 points scored per game and shot a less-than-inspiring 41.5% from the field. Four of those 5 contests stayed 'under' the total, and there was only a combined average of 129.0 points scored per game.

Cowboys On A Roll

It wasn’t too long ago that Oklahoma State lost 6 straight games to open its Big 12 schedule. However, since then the Pokes have gone 5-0 SU & ATS and had a decisive victory margin of 13.8 points per game. The most impressive of those wins came in their previous contest at No. 13 West Virginia, and they accomplished that feat as a 10-point underdog. The Cowboys have been offensively dynamic during this win streak, averaging 84.2 points and making a sensational 47.8% of their 3-point attempts. Furthermore, Oklahoma State attempted an average of 28 free throws during that 5-game stretch and converted on a terrific 82.0% of those tries.

College Basketball Betting Algorithm

Any team (Oklahoma State) coming off a straight-up win as an underdog of +10.0 or more vs. an opponent (Baylor) that has lost each of its last 2 games and both defeats came against opponents within its own conference resulted in those teams going 129-75 (63.2%) straight up since 1997.

Considering there’s a scant point spread of 1.5 in this contest, the straight up results in the above betting angle take on added significance. I’m going with the home team for one of my Wednesday NCAA basketball picks.
